I am a versatile software engineer, currently employed at a company that utilizes gaming technologies for interactive and educational experiences. My main focus is software design and implementation ('programming'). I do however also have hobby-experience doing some Blender 3D modeling/animating and designing levels for various games!
I'm writing this just to let anyone interested know that I won't be visiting ModDB too much anymore. Before I joined, and a few years after that, it felt like a website that was well-moderated to keep out the crap and provide at least some minimum level of quality content. A website where skilled and knowledgeable developers would share some interesting concepts, thoughts, techniques and news, and most of all a passion for mod- and game development. The forums where a place where people could talk about specific problems and find help from other people with a genuine interest in game development.
Now, every time I visit ModDB I get frustrated real fast by all the low quality content that is dominating the website, and by the fact that the forums have turned in some kind of advertisement board with badly written, single-post topics about this or that (mostly mobile) game that someone has produced. Usually of the type 'I made this to make money, even though I have no idea what I'm actually doing'. I'm sad, disappointed and even a bit disgusted by what this website has become. I loved to visited this place, it felt a bit like a home on the internet. Now it's not worth my time anymore, except when I want to download a specific mod that I already know of, or if I occasionally want to indulge my nostalgic feelings and check out old articles that used to impress me.
So, goodbye ModDB. If anyone wants to contact me, please do so by sending me a private message, so I will get an email notification about it.
