A free-roaming squad based RPG.  Focusing on open-ended gameplay features rather than a linear story.  Be a trader, a thief, a rebel, a mercenary, a business owner, a doctor, a bandit... the list goes on. 

  • Original take on the RTS-RPG hybrid genre. No "hero" characters with artificially stronger stats than everybody else-  Every character and NPC you meet is potentially an equal, and has a name, a life. 
  • You are not the chosen one.  You're not great and powerful. You don't have more 'hitpoints' than everyone else. You are not the center of the universe, and you are not special. Unless you work for it.
  • Freeform gameplay in a seamless game world stretching over 400 square kilometers.  The game will never seek to limit you or restrict your personal play style.
  • Variation and possibilities of gameplay. Be good, be evil, be a business man, be a thief, live in a town, live in the desert, join the army, fight the army, travel alone, travel in hordes, build a fortress, raze a city.
  • Purchase and upgrade your own buildings to use as safe fortified havens when things go bad, or use them to start up a business. 
  • Carry your wounded squad mates to safety and get them all home alive.
  • Dynamic, ever changing world. Support or hinder whoever you wish, or keep to yourself, the world won't stop moving. This is not just a "game", you are living and surviving in a simulated world.
  • Absolutely no Level-scaling.  The world does not level up along with you, and the shops don't change their inventory to only items matching your level. At the start of the game almost everyone will be stronger than you, and survival will always be a struggle.
  • Realistic medical system that affects gameplay.  A character with a wounded leg will limp or crawl and slow the party down, wounded arms means you must use your sword one-handed or not at all.  Lose an eye and it will affect your field of vision.  Blood loss means you can pass out, and the blood will attract predators.  Exhaustion affects performance and is increased by equipment weight, weather, blood loss and thirst.  Severed limbs will need expensive robotic replacements.
  • Intelligent AI that allows for characters to reason and work towards long-term goals and desires. Squads work together and carry their wounded to safety. Characters can be setup to take care of micromanagement for you.
  • Aid or oppose the various factions in the world while striving for the strength and wealth necessary to simply survive in the harsh desert. 
  • Independently developed with no design influences, or alterations dictated by men in gray suits who have never played a game before in their lives.
  • Original game world. There are no fantasy-knock-off cliches. No magic.

Here's the progress we've made so far this month:

Dialogue & AI: The actual foundations/ programming of the dialogue are like 75% done, but there just isn’t much actual content yet. Content is <5%. The good news for this though, is that modders will have a lot more power and stuff to play around with.

Stealth: The stealth function itself is pretty much complete, just needs fine-tuning. This will allow you to sneak past enemies etc, and in later updates open up the doors for stealing (once actual steal-able content is added). AI is now scheduled, so shopkeepers now close their shops at night and shoo you out, and guard shifts and patrols change, later leading to possible burglarising. So not much thievery to do yet, but you can use the skill for escaping cannibal camps and avoiding bandits.

Pathfinding: The bane of us all... The foundations have pretty much all been finished for a while now, it’s just a matter of ironing out the butt load of bugs which keep cropping up, hence why we keep saying ‘it’s nearly finished, just a few more weeks now’. So apologies if ETA predictions in the past have felt misleading, at least now we’ve learned our lesson not to be too hasty with our ETAs.

Beasts: The good news is that beasts are going much quicker than we’d originally planned for. It’s still early stages, so at the moment all they can do is basic actions like running and walking. Just need to work on ragdoll and combat animation, plus more normal beast behaviour AI (the unfinished dialogue AI has been making them say some pretty random, hurtful stuff).


Weather System: Maykol has pretty much finished with the programming for the weather system so now we just need to start on the actual animation and visuals. Later on down the line the different weather will harm characters, damage machinery, ruin farms… that sort of thing. But that’s way ahead.

World Map: This won’t be released until nearer release in the beta version. The terrain is mostly finished now but it still needs most of the texture and foliage doing. We’ve still not started on towns and cultures yet either so it would be too dull to release without more content in it.

I really appreciate where your are going with this. Have not seen something quite like this before.

The amount of detail you are putting in to it is just great. Some major publisher could really learn something in game development from you passionate guys. Seems all new flashy games are just betas for like $50-$90.

I hope you reach your goal with this one.

I have been playing the demo for some days now, but i seems that it is crashing on increasing occasions, at the moment I cannot even sell stuff from the backpack in 2min without having a crash. (v0.67.2)
I am still at the police base from start as wanderer.

Thought that info might help for solving bugs at this early stage.

Kenshi is a very ambitious game, it is as of the moment I'm writing this in a very unfinished state, but it's fun to play and it looks like with more love and care, this will be an absolutely great game.

Therefore I'm voting this a 10, I also bought the game to support the (currently) only developer working on it.

Despite the crashes, the content the game has now, made by only a single developer is very impressive in my opinion.

In it's current state, it deserves a one.

But because it's being updated and because its from one dude, it deserves a 4.

When its finally released, hopefully it will be worth a 10.
I don't see why people are just spamming 10 on this, lets be honest. in its current state, it is pretty sh*t. But we can all agree it WILL turn out great. (Don't hate me for the low rate, i'll re-review it with a high score as the game is being made. Or when its finished.)
