Zombie Football Carnage

Game review

This is actually a pretty fun game. It takes the dual stick shooter mechanic and changes it up by turning your "ammo" into a football that's more like a boomerang, and can only be thrown as often as it comes back. There's plenty of powerups, upgrades, and more to keep things interesting too.

Amazing Zombie Defense

Game review

Not sure about the history of this developer, but this feels a lot like a first effort. It's a dual stick zombie wave survival game with a basic inventory system for buying weapons and ammo, and it even has leaderboards, but aside from that, this is about as barebones as a game gets. I hope the developer learned and grew from this experience, and I wish them luck on future products.

The Oil Blue

Game review

There is a genre for games like this, though I'm not sure what to call it. Juggling perhaps? It's a game where you have to operate a bunch of different machines simultaneously. The player is like a rope in a game of tug of war, constantly being pulled in opposite directions, in this case by blinking lights and sirens instead of kids and their overenthusiastic parents.

The learning curve is a bit fast, but I suppose if you fail your first objective (collect 15 barrels of oil in 3 days), you can always try it again, having learned from your failures. After a few rounds, it starts to make sense, and it's actually quite a fun game!

Whether or not you have any interest in drilling for oil, I recommend giving this game a try.

miniFlake Alpha

Game review

I do like this kind of game, but the visuals in this one discouraged my interest, and then it crashed a few steps into the dungeon when I tried to use an Alchemy table. As much as I hate overbearing tutorials, this game needs a few. A new coat of paint and a little bit a guidance could help this a lot.

EvilQuest

Game review

An action RPG that's a little too old school for its own good, but still manages to provide some decent gameplay. The music makes my ears bleed though.

Bullet Candy Perfect

Game review

Bullet Candy Perfect is a decent dual-stick shooter. My main problem with it is the occasional unbalanced enemy, such as one that can produce more homing projectiles than you can shoot down with the default weapon. The game could also use a few more musical tracks. It's also a bit on the short side. Though there are over 50 levels, they are very short, and many do little to differenciate themselves from the others. There is replayability through increased difficulty settings, but Normal can be cleared in one quick sitting by a person with any degree of experience in the genre. Still, quite fun while it lasts.

Waves

Game review

It borrows very heavily from Geometry Wars, but it does so capably--for the most part. In the dual-stick shooter, Waves, there are the occasional problems like the lack of a "look ahead" camera, which tends to create a lot of moments where there is just not enough time to notice something coming towards you or spawning nearby, especially on the top and bottom of the screen. Still, there is a lot of fun to be had in the half a dozen game modes, and it's the perfect game for taking a run at the leaderboards.

Scoregasm

Game review

This is honestly one of the best dual stick shooters I've ever played! Lots of levels, great music, devious challenges and shiny visuals!
