“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.”
-- General George S. Patton June 7, 1945
First Person Shooter. With a passionate team behind the project, our goal is to revolutionize the FPS genre by removing the traditional linear go from point "A" to point "B" format and replacing it with a open dynamic way to play.
War Zone : Four Fronts puts the player in the shoes of those who laid their lives on the line in the name of freedom during World War II. Feel the power and emotion as you shed blood, sweat, and tears with the greatest and bravest men who ever lived. From the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor to D-DAY to The Battle of Midway, fight your way through 4 massive, intense, powerful and emotional campaigns.
Whats So Different?
Traditional FPS consist of a linear style of gameplay. Go from point "A" to point "B", "Shoot that guy! He's in our way!". War Zone : Four Fronts completely throws that out and replaces it with a new style of dynamic open gameplay. Instead of taking the player through a set path through a town, the player has a set of objectives that they have to complete.
Objectives will vary by mission as some missions wont have objectives but your goal is to survive by any means necessary. An example of this style of gameplay will be the Battle of Bastogne. The USA was surrounded by German forces as they attempted to take the town for a week. This would be a survival mission where the player has full roam of the battlefield; the town of Bastogne and its surrounding area.
Did You Say Co-op Campaign?
The 4 campaigns will also feature drop-in drop-out Co-op for up to 40 players. This means that instead of being a loan soldier on the front lines, you have allies and fellow soldiers by your side to cover your six. Co-op will feature bonus objectives that allow the player to collaborate with team mates to complete the objective. The Co-op even goes online with separate online Co-op campaigns/scenarios featuring set game modes and objectives. An example of this is a scenario called Island Hopping. Following the Battle of Midway and the Attack on Pearl Harbor, the players are tasked with hopping from island to island fighting off the Japanese forces to eventually force Japan into surrender.
Will There Be Different Classes Too?
Both the Campaign and Multiplayer will have different classes that have very significant roles during the battle. Play your part and you may just turn the tide of the battle. Assault, Medic, Support, and Recon are the 4 current classes. Each class has a different play style and is unique to itself. Each class also receives a class bonus if you play the role.
How Will The Game Be Dynamic?
Dynamic gameplay for Four Fronts means that what ever you do will have a equal or more powerful reaction either right then and there, or later on during the battle. If you launch a mortar shell and it doesn't go off upon impact, it may have a chance to go off later on. You may have just saved someones life. Destruction is a huge factor. Destroying buildings and other structures will limit cover for both the player and the enemy team. Destruction of objects wont be limited to just explosives, if you pump enough bullets into something some micro destruction will occur such as weakened structures and weakened cover.
War Zone : Four Fronts is a massive game being made by fans. That means that what ever input we get we heavily take it to heart. We aim to create the best FPS experience with the best fan base out there. We are always open to new ideas and are extremely dedicated to not just fans of the project, but fans of the FPS genre as well.
The last few days the team has been hard at work on Four Fronts. We have started work on one of our Pacific Theater maps for multiplayer. The map “Iwo Jima” (Working Title) will be featured in the game showing off its beauty before the US launched an artillery strike on the island.
The Island its self is fairly big and will feature key locations from our Facebook survey. Our Top pick from the survey was an Air Strip followed by a Small Island Town and a Beached Ship and Small Jungle are tied for third. All four locations will be featured on our Iwo Jima map given the size and scale of the map.
The terrain will be rocky and jungle like, depicting what the island looked like post battle. Although Iwo Jima has 2 Air Strips and one under construction during WWII, we will be removing one air strip and replacing it with the Small Island Town and the unfinished strip will probably be a jungle area. Currently the Beached ship is in place and have begun to layout the map around it. The ship is based off of the USS Oklahoma, with fully operational guns. The decks below in the haul of the ship will be accessible as well.
The Game Modes for this map will feature Assault (A revamped version of Battlefields Rush), Large Scale Domination, Team Death Match, And a new game mode we will announce at a latter date. Below are some photos to give you a glimpse at the scale and size of the map.
