Facet is a custom class based First person/Third person multiplayer arena Shooter/Slasher. How does that work, you ask? It doesn't. This started with a shower thought about throwing players controlling characters from different games into an arena and seeing who wins, coupled nicely with a universe I have been day dreaming up since I was a young one. After testing out a few ENTIRELY different character 1v1s with a friend of mine I realized I absolutely did not have the next big game idea. It was really hard and it was like playing rock, paper, scissors, except if paper could shoot better, paper could beat rock. It reminded me of playing games in my younger days, where when I first started playing it was absolute chaos and not fun in any way shape or form. Turned out the fun is encased in a very hard shell of "learning," but, when you crack it open and bite into the fruit it bore, boy was it sweet. This is that.

Description

Just a quick little show case of the dialogue system that's going to be used. I only used placeholders here and will make a much better video when all states and face offsets are finished.

There are 3 layers at play, first the body animation. This will convey any body language necessary for each thing said.

Second is the facial expression. Default facial expression is based on how the NPC feels about the character. 0=Angry face 50 = Neutral face 100 = Happy face, these faces are blended making every number on the scale different. Also these faces can be overridden for dialogues.

Third is the jaw "lip synch" animation. Everything is reusable with their respective gender except these. Obviously.
