Facet is a custom class based First person/Third person multiplayer arena Shooter/Slasher. How does that work, you ask? It doesn't. This started with a shower thought about throwing players controlling characters from different games into an arena and seeing who wins, coupled nicely with a universe I have been day dreaming up since I was a young one. After testing out a few ENTIRELY different character 1v1s with a friend of mine I realized I absolutely did not have the next big game idea. It was really hard and it was like playing rock, paper, scissors, except if paper could shoot better, paper could beat rock. It reminded me of playing games in my younger days, where when I first started playing it was absolute chaos and not fun in any way shape or form. Turned out the fun is encased in a very hard shell of "learning," but, when you crack it open and bite into the fruit it bore, boy was it sweet. This is that.

Post news Report RSS Devblog 01: NPC Dialogue

A new video showing off the dialogue system is up! So what's next?

Check out the quick dialogue showcase down below

You'll see a number of things in play here

first is that the npcs detect clothing items in inventory and equip them. Second is that the NPC either is indifferent, likes you or dislikes you based on your choices. These are based on variables that can be affected by in-game events. Factions also play a huge role on an NPC's feelings towards you. You can definitely have entire towns mad at you if you burned down their favorite pub. You'll also see that the NPCs stop and look at you when you approach them.

What's next:

The next update you'll see, as all focus has been pushed to it, is the combat system. Some early features are going to include standard melee combat with stance switching and slots for choosing the stance.

Stances will different fighting styles you can switch to with the press of "V". Some example stances would include stabbing for more push, or slashing for less push and more damage. You'll be able to switch these out in the menu at any time, however there will be two slots that you can switch between by pressing "V". "V" if pressed when holding a projectile/ranged weapon will cycle firing modes.

The next videos will be set in the conceptual stage of the tech city of Jonh. So we'll see some early looks at how city of Jonh will look. The city is the product of the "weak willed" humans who did not have as strong of an access to magic as most humans after the event did. They leaned on technology to keep themselves protected from the chaotic world in the wake of the event and keep themselves isolated.
