So what? you can enter each shop that is by a specified inventor? Or you start out with a few unlocked merchants and you must do quests for those who you want to unlock. Like some fetch quests for Tesla to buy some of his guns/upgrades/or even just a discount.
On the bonus characters thing I would suggest variations on these inventors, like instead of playing as Colt you can play as Remington or Winchester. Also having unique dialoge between people like Colt and Winchester would be funny.
Also you could throw in Alchemist weaponry where the player would hold different colored stones (or something) and turning the environment in to an array of weapons. Like holding a blue stone would make one of three attacks happen, while a red stone would make one of three other attacks. Making these a wild card weapon, not so much as a hit or miss attack but something where the player has almost no idea of what they are buying. Have each stone have set properties. You could go classic elemental weapons or try something different. Maybe using a stone on certain landscapes gives you a certain bonus. Red good on a fire level. So combining the Red stone with a Joule weapon in a CoOp would be an amazing bonus.
Looks like Binding of isaac meets Castle Crashers. Keep it up!
Question: Are you gonna make it so that there are basically 4 main bosses, killing one each gives you a tentacle?
Okay another idea/tip. Have all the guns level and change drastically. Cave story did a great job of this, 10ish weapons 4 levels each and you can lose exp if you are hit. Its probably not the best to do here (losing exp) but it seems like something you should ponder.
This game seems like it needs to be quicker pace wise. And a few different jabs or slices would be great.
From the trailer it seems like the game is hard to see, and maneuver. I would suggest adding moon lit windows that help you navigate. Also, maybe take a page from Far Cry 3, and get real people to play the game, than have the main character think in relation to it. Like when the phone started ringing, I would have Noped the **** out of there.

Heres a tip, on the loot make sure that weapons aren't just tiered. You need to give the players a wide variety of choices. Do we want the two swords that are fairly weak alone, but good together, and how does that compair to a slow gun that the bullets explode on impact? Tiering the weapons ends up with Does stat A beat stat B
I can do a good Russian accent, but speak no Russian. American voice is natural, I can do both souther, and norther. I can also do a good Canadian accent, and a Sean Connery. Not sure what a scientist sounds like, though I am actually majoring in Chemistry and Biology.
Well, I guess I could just ask you what type of voices you need. So, what type of voices do you need? Any special characters you need voiced?
I doubt I'de do any good, I'm not sure what types they would need.

WOW! I mean really WOW this is great! I would make the combat Assassins creed like. Easier to program, A is block, timed parries result in counters, and B is to attack in combos.
ehh all these games are well known, it's not much of a competition when well known games win. I would think the idea is for less known games to win. Still congrats to everyone who won!
Okay I actually have a proposal if you want to get some really nice publicity. It will seem far out there but, you could do what Razor does, buy T-Shirts, little crappy wristband things, and give them to Youtubers to give out. That way the producers get some free swag, and than people from around the world get free swag, and ergo you get people to buy your game.
might I suggest trying to get more backers for less? Like find out the price to print a poster of large size. Than take that, and than add $10 for it. Also T-Shirts! T-Shirts are like mobile advertisement.
You could have it in the sporeish theme where the larger the ships, the further back the camera will pull, and you can travel in a much larger scale. A sailboat will go north 3 meters, while a Behemoth XXL Viking Ship will travel 60 meters North.
Train Snake? Nice, my idea would be once you beat the level you ride on top of the snake train lol.
in the larger ships I would add the ability to upgrade for cannons on the side, they turn their ship and could press Q or E to shoot the cannons Left for Right.
The game is a nice time waster, but I find the reaction time for the falling slow, I would love to see a shrinking animation. Maybe a dropping noise.
Lol I would add easter eggs like the Boat from WindWaker, Davey Jones hell with time this can be the Sea version of Terraria!
