Hey guys, this update is for two reasons: one, IOTY is here, and two, Ben, one of our 3D artists has made massive progress in one week on the city assets, going from 3 to 12 in one week.
IOTY:
Indie of the Year is here, and, although we do not expect to get into the top 100, let alone win, we sure wouldn't mind giving it a go, so I am here to ask you, plead you to vote for us for IOTY 2011. We are working so hard to bring more content and make the game better and better, and we are making progress, a lot of it.
New Team Members:
As of this week, we have some new members joining our ranks, 2 with one pending. One is an animator/3D generalist and the other is a character artist/decent character concept artist. They will make great additions to our team and we hope to be with them for a long time. What does this mean for the team? Well, it means we are almost full, all we need is another concept artist, so if you are good and want to join a team of dedicated members, please send me an email at: contact@leatharianstudios.com. I check my email everyday and will respond promptly to all applicants.
The Renders:
So, last weekly update, we posted a render of some environmental assets, well we have more to show off the progress that Ben has made on them, 3 in total new renders in engine. These are still WIP to some degree, but they are really nice, and they fit our style and mood for the city perfectly. Those are at the bottom.
What to expect from us soon:
We are working hard on new concepts and renders, so expect more of those in the coming weeks, and, now that we have an animator (finally), we can start really working on the code and getting a playable demo to show off, but we won't show it until we are confident in its awesomeness. In the demo will be cool features like player movement (jumping, sliding, vaulting, sprinting, diving, etc), custom weapons with all features necessary to gameplay (reload, aim, etc), puzzles, and perhaps some enemies and combat. That is our goal and hopefully, we can have something to show off (animations, puzzles, maybe something else) by the end of the year, but don't hold us to it.
Here is the asset progression:
I hope you enjoyed these and please vote for us for indiedb's IOTY 2011:
