Natural Selection 2 is the sequel to the popular Half-Life mod Natural Selection. It is built on our own engine and will be distributed through Valve's Steam platform.
There are some changes happening with how power works for marines.
1. The buildable power "packs" are being removed (they are flawed and this will help reduce stalemates).
2. Power points (on walls) are now "sockets" where power nodes must be built before the area is powered.

What? The power packs were the only thing balancing the gameplay out, now Aliens already over-whelming OP-ness will increase further.
Thank you for saying this, how idiotic could the developers of NS2 get with this decision?
dude thats going to be a foregone conclusion once they get the optimization down. 2/3 of the 'op' right now are from fades and the issues of lag on hitting them while they are teleporting/recovering from it. that and the shotgun having a delay due to 'lag'
