Digimon World: Project Ark is a free, fan-made game based on the PSX title Digimon World. Our goal is essentially to revive and expand on the world of the original. The project is volunteer-based and many of the original founders of project ark are still actively involved in the game today.
The player is given a partner digimon that they are responsible for raising, training and exploring the digital world with. The purpose is to raise your partner through their life cycle, explore the islands, and recruit digimon to your city. We are using the Digimon World 1 mechanics to create a larger game, using NeoAxis 3D for our engine. There will be over 300 digimon in-game, and we will be utilizing a game-specific, independant storyline.
The team is currently working towards a small demo to showcase some of our features, stay tuned for details. You can find us over at our new site dwprojectark.com, where we'll be more consistent with updates.
We do not own any of the characters nor will we profit from this game in any way. Please support official releases. - Project Ark Team
For anyone who missed Vray's recent update vid, here's the link: Indiedb.com
As mentioned in the video, the team is currently - due to copyright issues - moving away from the Digimon aspect of the game and will be using original monsters and concepts instead. It will still be DW1's spiritual successor, but without the digimon as to not upset copyright law.
The new project has been dubbed "Project Dark World" (an anagram of Digimon World: Project Ark with the 'igimon' part taken out), and will be similar in mechanics to Project Ark, though a different setting. The digital aspect will be replaced with a dark matter theme instead.
The dwprojectark.com site is down, but we'll have a site for the new project up in the near future. Any readers still interested in joining the team and contributing toward the game despite the changes, please let us know via PM.
Thanks for your understanding,
- The Project Ark Team
