project path:

-1986: arcade machine, rom revision 7; play time 7 hours, score: 1963415
-1987: commodore 64, port attempt, US gold home release
-1987: amiga 500, clone; Garrison
~1995: doom port idea - notes only
-1997: Quantlet - quake engine port - incomplete
-1997: MGE - multi-gauntlet emulator discovered
-unk: notes were made for a gauntlet mods based on mod of arcade roms
-201x: some quantlet components were finished in chaos mod mk II
-2018: discovered javascript gauntlet engine base

at various points I looked at arcade roms, quantlet notes, orig c64 notes, emulator code, etc.

every now and then some new gauntlet element appears
a different port, the 2014 remake on steam, a review or other video

why use the javascript?

I've been using javascript with web pages since 2003 - much familiarity is here

if I went the arcade rom route, it could be 3 or 4 years before I had a compilable source I could mod...and then there is the hardware side

once I get the gauntlet 1 port complete...the mod starts now!

my essential mod mantra: if it does not function (as close as possibly intended...) --- is this a worthy purpose?

seen here is my current research map

making elements look correct
then operate correct

teleport testing
monster research
enhancements

you may realize I can not help but go beyond a simple port...
that section lower left with a different floor tile

already modded from the original!
