Indie game developer.
It's possible but honestly I will be releasing an early alpha version sometime in the next few months and I think it's best to spend my time working towards that than on a demo.
Hey guys. I had to cut this video short so it wouldn't be too long but there's another one coming quick showing off basic fire mechanics as well as the inside of some caves. Thanks for all the support!
Your complaint is a good one. The degradation you see in the video was speed up roughly 5 or 6 times normal to show off the mechanic. I'm sure there will be some balancing once I start more play testing so no worries!
Sure is! Sorry for the long silence I had some major changes with my job back in February and had to move my family closer to work. I've had limited development time over the past few weeks because of this and I chose to work on the game itself and less on the publicity side of things. That said I am back on a regular schedule and have much to show off.
The biggest issue I am facing with riding dinosaurs is how exactly they will be tamed. Maybe by feeding certain foods over a period of time. It just needs to be something that is fairly difficult to do since it would make the game much easier. Either way dinosaurs will definitely be mountable at some point and many animals other than dinosaurs will be tamable as well. For instance there were several small mammals alive throughout the time of the dinosaurs that I plan on adding not only for hunting but to tame and use for farming.
Been doing some serious work on the desert biome and large scale AI. The current plan is to have more rock/mining resources in the arid biomes as opposed to the marsh and tropical biomes. This will help make each biome useful and encourage exploration. These are the three biomes that are currently planned for the pre alpha release with more later on.
Should have some new footage of the desert and larger dinos up this weekend. Possibly some more on combat as well.
Thanks for the kind words!
Yep, I am actually working now. I am on night shift at the moment and my job is pretty slow so I actually spend much of my nights writing code or laying out new concepts for the game! Even with work I still get 4-5 solid hours in a day and more in weekends.
I have a pretty ambitious Kickstarter planned for April and if things go well I will start developing full time. Its always been my dream to make games for a living and I am giving it everything I have.
Lol could never guess with a name like that! Glad you like it =)
Sorry for the slow update guys. Here are some new pics and a video after the switch to PBS. The specularity and lighting are still off after the shader changes but are being fixed. Comments and feedback please!
I will definitely need some play testers in the coming months so I will keep you in mind. For now I can use all the feedback I can get. I just made a video showing the PBS and updated mechanics for the bow and tree cutting. I didn't have time to upload but it should be up by tomorrow.
Thanks. I'm getting a little demo video set up right now to show off some shiny PBS and the new weapon models.
Thanks! I actually found TSL after I started developing Pangea. I was worried until I bought and played it lol. It's pretty much an empty shell of a game and I'm pretty sure it's abandoned as well.
Yeah I am, thanks!
It's not easy. I work a fulltime job but I still develop 4 or 5 hours a day and 12 or more on my days off. I contract out modeling and animations. Depending on my Kickstarter I will hire some more help especially for the multiplayer framework.
Just finished implementing Physically Based Shading and wow things are looking really good. I will get some visuals up for you guys soon as I can.
That is my plan by the full release. For the time being I am completely focused on single player. When the pre alpha releases I am trying to have a polished enjoyable game.
Just finished updating the character model and doing some work on the bow shooting system. The hands look amazing now and the bow mechanics are spot on. Currently working on transitioning to Physically Based Shading. I'll get another video up tonight or tomorrow once this is complete.
Uploaded a new video of some basic Raptor animations and AI. Still needs some polish and better sound effects but is still pretty solid.
Man this looks amazing. I love the combat physics.
There are a few older vids posted next to finished features. I was hoping to get one up of the AI and jungle bioime today but I didn't have enough time! Will be up tomorrow night for sure.
I think that everyday! When I first started working on my current project it was and still is a passion project. A game I would love playing when it was done. The problem is the closer I get to completion the sadder I get because I can't sit down and enjoy it like others. I will spot every flaw, understand every imbalance and never really be immersed like I hope others will. It's a double edged sword this game development!
Working on some AI and combat today. Should have a new video up sometime today!
Hi guys. I'm just getting started here on indiedb but I'd like to share my current project with you guys. Over the next few days I will be adding more content to this post including some new videos of the ai and combat mechanics.
Anyways if you are interested please feel free to leave some feedback on the current state and don't be afraid to ask questions or offer suggestions!
Good looking game. I'll keep an eye on this!
Looks good. You have a lot of competition in this genre though!
Looks cool! I love the concept...kind of like a 2D version of The Pangea Project.
Interesting idea. Totally unique and I love the art style!
Simple idea but so freaking fun.
Very nice. I need some concept work like this for my project!
