ALPHAFUNDING +FAILED+ | TEAM GOT DISPERSED In order to continue development, we have to put a new team together, and fund the game through alternative source of funding. That will take some time. This project has not been abandoned. Unless information comes from the official source, please disregard online rumors. Indie game dev is a very tough business and the year 2013 is even tougher due to many new indie studios funded by former AAA developers. Competition for human resources and funding is fierce. People who believed it the game and ordered alpha - huge thank you, you will never be forgotten and when the game is resurrected, we will make it up to you, somehow. Thank you for understanding.

Seeing no feedback for the new features we implemented I figured Desura client doesn't ping owners of the game that there was an update. Therefore I made a screencast about new features including spellcrafting and new menu. We hope you will appreciate these features and will make some cool let's play style videos of you and your buddies chopping up skelies together online and growing your magical powers :)

Did some research and I don't see having random dungeons as they are in the game. It works for isometric / top down view, but doesn't really work for first-person view. Plus, it limits modability of the game and make game heavily dependent on a programmer (if programmer is gone, there is no way to continue with it).

Therefore ToM will have semi-random dungeons with random encounters.

Well this game is turning out to be less than I had expected it to be.

What did you expect for it to be?

Unless I pay programmer to work full time for whole year, where he can solve all of the issues and made sure it will never fail, develop an algorithm to generate fast and not boring dungeons, I don't see everything-random-game happening.

Starbound actually

Starbound is Terraria successor. A voxel based 2d game. Full polygonal 3D is quite different beast.

I didn't say I think it's not super awesome still. I understand how hard algorithms can be (and you already are making another game), I guess that I just was a little upset since when develop time is so long.

Yeah, it's upsetting for me too. However, that's just a reality of indie development. Lack of right team members, lack of PR, lack of funding etc. lead to longer development times. I am still looking for team members for ToM and I might have a programmer to work one the game, but I want to make sure he will stick around.
We will be switching to idTech 4 most likely (or Doom 3 BFG engine). It's much easier to find C++ programmer than C / QuakeC programmer. It's more artist friendly and easier to mod. Plus we could use everything we develop for Steel Storm 2 in ToM.
