Lantern of Worlds is a computer game based on Arabian mythology and the tales of 1001 Nights. It is inspired by older games like the Quest for Glory series, Eye of the Beholder and Lands of Lore.

In Lantern of Worlds you are one of the royal adventurers of king Valdemar of Idunia. You are send on a diplomatic mission to the courts of Sultan Mehmet the Magnificent. On your way there, however, dark forces plot your undoing, and you are left in the middle of the ocean, in a small lifeboat, with nothing but your wits and your determination to survive.

Luckily, you spot an island in the distance...a desert island, where many adventures await you!

But during during your adventures, you will find that great events have been set in motion, and that you have a grand role to play in the undoing, or salvation, of the kingdom of Idunia, and indeed, the world.

- 6 different voice-actors!

- Various random locations & encounters!

- More then 40 different stories!

One of the aims of the game is to introduce especially younger players to the mythologies and folk tales of the world, and create for them an atmosphere of storytelling and wonder!

As Lantern of Worlds is largely based on text and reading, we hope that it may contribute to the reading skills and text comprehension of younger players, and show them a bit of the magic of old tales and stories, read from a dusty old book!

Lantern of Worlds is the first of what will be a series of games, each based on a different world mythology. Start on an epic journey that will take you to faraway lands, enchanted islands, castles in the clouds, and places of such beauty and wonder that defy imagining!

Who knows where you will end up, and what great adventures will await you!

Greetings gamers and developers,

The first demo of the game Lantern of Worlds - Eastwind is now ready!
The game page can be found here!

Story 2

The game tells the story of the island of Eastwind, a land troubled by recurring invasions of monsters and villains. Every four years this seems to happen, and no one knows where the monsters and evil-doers keep coming from.
In response the king and his advisors have organised a great tournament, to rid the island of all the monsters and persons of ill repute. Every four years the tournament is held, and this year, you will participate as well!

Features 1

* Chose your hero and fight the good fight in exciting battles.

* Play out different stories with different protagonists. Some fighting for good, some for evil.

* Explore the island of Eastwind and the islands surrounding it.

* Travel through dense jungles, dark caves, mysterious forests, and a land underwater.

Lantern

The game is part of the Lantern of Worlds universe, which I have been creating since 5 years now.

If you'd allow me some musings, I'd really like to share the following :)

Though I really like creating games, I have often felt something was missing when I finished a game, and moved on to the next. It felt like building a house, finishing it, and starting on a new one from scratch Instead of living in the house and upgrading it, building a new porch, maybe a garden, something like that.

So with this game I would like to try something new. To create a sort of tapestry, an evergoing game where I can just go on weaving new storylines and create new lands indefinitely. Without starting over from scratch every time.

A living game, hopefully, with many new chapters to come!

Mr. Fasold
I tried your demo.
I must say the art is especially well done.
I appreciated the character designs. The male is reminiscent of Viking warriors. The female also looks good, nice to see practical armor.
There are a few misspellings here and there, but overall the writing is very good. Your narration isn't too bad either.
I especially liked the mention that you can name your weapons- to my knowledge, this is a frequent occurrence in Irish and gaelic mythology.
The music is good. In certain encounters it really fit the mood, such as with the underground tree who gives you the riddle.
I enjoyed the variety of encounters; are they at all randomized?

However, I found myself beset with frequent stuttering and a single crash.
I'm running a laptop with 4GB of RAM, so I can't exactly run Crysis,
but I should be able to run this without any problems.
Optimization can wait until you've completed much more of the game though.
Overall, I like what I've seen so far, with the large amount of content in this demo, and I look forward to the next update.

A few questions:
Will the player ever be given the opportunity to change their appearance?
I.e warpaint or a change of armor?
Will the riddles and puzzles increase in difficulty as time goes on?

Good day/night.
