Official gameplay footage of our Castle Siege/Assassination Game Mode. This is the first publicly released footage of our gestural combat system, character classes and more of our features being shown off. The game is powered by the UDK and a release date has not yet been announced.
Notes: There are random stock models being used so testers can distinguish between different character classes. The big guy played in the first segment of the video is the Daimyo (leader) and is NPC-controlled on the second segment.
Looking good so far. I really wondered about the Daimyo in the first segment, as I thought it was a hunchback. Later I read that part about the stock models. It would be nice if you could counter attacks after blocking them. Hope that's part of the complete fighting system.
Apart from this I really like this mod and it's choice of traditional Japanese weapons. I hope you brush up on the hats and straw helmets of the period, since these can make it easier to distinguish who is who, in the game. Make it a bit more colorful, too ;)
Thanks - we made sure to choose carefully on what weapons we included in the game for the initial version. Upon successful release we have an expansion planned that will bring in more classes/weapons.
There will be hats just be patient until all the characters are done and we release another video =) There's a particular class that wears a big straw rice farmer hat. The color scheme was a design decision - the environments will stay pretty neutral except for certain spiritual elements/interactive items.
Also - there is a Counter move - I didn't really do it in the video but you can perform a time-based parry to both arrows (cut them out of the air) and weapons which will knock opponents back and leave them open for a brief moment.
