Story of Draden is now in beta! Windows and Mac builds are available for download.

We spent this week iterating our games polish and professionalism. While our entirely new content this week is small, we've upped the polish on a ton of elements of our game.

New content:

  • Short intro cut scene showing Draden become a dragon.
  • Reworked intro sequence to give new players more guidance
  • Central tower now has an HP and will be targeted by bandits

Polish elements:

  • Entirely new stylized UI, UI elements now only appear when needed
  • Changed Townie AI to gather around the player at night
  • New game over/win screens
  • Nature ambience added, as well as a few new sound effects
  • Various balance changes(tweaks to cauldrons, ore economy, bandits, townies)

Last week we received feedback that our guidance needed to be spaced out and more interactive. We've included a new intro to the town that should give the player more timely information and familiarize the player better with our gameplay loop. Additionally, we wanted to change the overall goal of the game from protecting your townies to protecting your tower. It was frustrating trying to protect townies sometimes, and the new objective is more in line with our story. Finally, our new UI and end screens should add a more professional feel to the game, as every asset is now stylized to our theme.

We have just one week left of development, and we are starting to feel confident with the level of polish on the game. In our last week, we'll likely add the final boss to make the ending of the game more exciting. We'll also add the nighttime attack music. Besides that we are always iterating our balance, and if we have the time we have some stretch goals including a graveyard area and townie names.
