War in the world is escalating, casualties are rising and no end is in sight. New recruits have been sent into battle to face the Enemy head on and make a difference in this horrible world.
Recruits is a Single and Co-Op player game where the players take charge of the Army's newest soldiers to fight the war against their deadly Enemies. Recruits will combine fast action shooting with teamwork and courage to bring the brutal reality of war, and an exciting gaming experience, to the player.
As players progress through the game they will gain ranks and respect amongst their fellow soldiers, giving them bonus abilities, unlocked items and perks to better defeat their enemies. The main aim for the player is to complete their missions and gain as many kill points as possible. The higher the rank of the player, the more efficient soldier they are, giving the team a better chance of surviving the missions and ultimately the war.
In each level, players will have to move out, saving POW's and civilians, avoiding traps, searching out and killing Enemy Soldiers, destroying enemy buildings and vehicles in order to safely get extracted from the battlefield.
Recruits is an action packed Top Down Shoot-em Up that will deliver you and your friends to the front lines of brutal combat situations.

Hi Everyone,
We wanted to keep everyone in the loop of what we are doing, have done, and are going to do. We are still hard at work fixing bugs and preparing the a level for our Pre-Alpha Demo.
We have mainly been working on getting a the demo to our internal testers, so that we can better QA our own work, and find out what needs fixing and what needs changing. This is a very important step for us as it will really show the major bugs and problems that we, as the developers might not have picked up on.
We also would like to thank the people who comment on our videos and updates with feed back and ideas. We read all of these comments and take them on board with the development of Recruits.
For example:
Reloading Indicator:
We had a reloading indicator on the screen when the player was low on ammo. People said this really distracted the player and took away from the game rather than adding to it. so... GONE!
Squad AI:
We have also fixed out Squad AI, there were some moment where they didn't fire at the enemies (cowards!) but now they are brave and help you out as much as they can.
Medical Kits:
Another thing we have recently added are medical kits. You now can revive your fallen squad members and heal them or yourself in order to keep fighting. This helps you keep your squad mate with his specific skills so that you hard work isn’t lost in the case of an unfortunate accident.
Menus:
We have also been working on getting our menus working and functioning fully, so that people change change graphic setting, check out stats and select mission
XP:
We have also fixed XP not being given to player from exploding objects. What use to happen is you go through a village killing people and blowing everything up and you had not gained much XP from it. Thanks to dave_5430 - All fixed now.
As you probably know, the first level will be based in jungle, however there are plans for other levels such as urban, underground tunnels, inside cargo planes, inside structures and more! We are working on perfecting our characters, our environments, effects, sounds, game play, everything! Its all happening, and we are loving it.

Ah thanks for this game! I've really waited for a similar top-down game like Alien Swarm with great physics and graphics. I think that top-down shooters nowadays are unfortunately underestimated.
Will there be all of the multiplayer options also available for singleplayer, too?
Fantastic concept so far!
Well, our current plans for multiplayer is for their too be 2 different modes, Co-Op and Versus mode. Co-Op will allow for up too 4 player work together too accomplish missions and whatnot. Versus is a more traditional team based combat where each player has their own small squad and are duking it out with the enemy team. The actual logistics for how progression between multiplayer and single player is to be handled is still being worked out. Note however that we are having progression be a big part of the game so that the player can actually see results of effort and time they spend playing the game. Im not sure if that answered your question, if not just let us know!
It was more or less the question if there is also a multiplayer skirmish mode or bot support for offline gaming in general. Would be great if this is the case. But these are nice information, too.
Yes their will be a multiplier Skirmish mode. Most likely we will not be having bots, although the way the single player portion works is that their will be the regular mission based games and also Survival mode where you need to hold off waves of enemies (notice that this will be available online as well). We are trying our best to cater this game to both online and offline experiences, and not leave one in the dust.
That's nice to read, thanks for clearing this up. I wish you great sucess and can't await the first release.
Are the characters seen in the video logs (the ones that look like rocks) are the final or are they just for test runs or something like that?
Yes they are the default UDK (the engine we are using) characters, we are in the process of replacing them with cool soldiers.
this game could be a fps
This game reminds me alot of Company of Heroes, which is my favorite game by far. Deff. gona follow this one, keep it up guys.
Wow first time I'm hearing about this... Looks very similar to the classic Cannon fodders back on Amiga & PC.
Still I hope the players will also meet some friendly ai soldiers on the field maybe supporting in some areas. Just don't let it look like 4 vs 1000 that would be stupid.
tracking the game & good luck and keep it up it looks very promising.
