What is INT?

INT is a roguelike Sci-Fi RPG with a heavy focus on exploration, dungeon crawling, character customization and story, brought to you by indie enthusiasts. The focus is on the character’s journey through a war-torn world through randomized and pre-set levels with fast-paced combat against hordes of enemies. The player must accomplish quests like a traditional RPG, complete objectives, and meet crew members which will aid in survival. Throughout the game you can side and complete missions through criminal cartels, and the two major combatants, the UCE and ACP, of the Interstellar Civil War.

Before playing the actual game we plan on giving away a free, public, demo. This demo will be hosted on this page and our main web-page. The demo will showcase game assets, the world, environments, and characters that you will journey with during the main quest. While we are still developing the demo it is our hope that you will begin interacting with us and giving us your thoughts on our universe.

Throughout our public demo, you will journey through a horrific warzone on the planet Bastion in an attempt to escape the world. At the end of the demo you may find a starship which will allow you to escape the planet, if you are so lucky. The main game will pit you against the forces of two warring factions, numerous criminal cartels, and rogue agents. You will have to keep flying to survive in this dastardly universe.

It will be up to you to explore roguelike worlds which are randomly generated or journey to the warzones that make up the Interstellar Civil War. During your journey you will find numerous companions some random, others placed for you. It will be up to you to trust them because in INT everyone has a secret and some have a dagger aimed for your back.

We currently plan to support Mac, Windows, and Linux. More information will follow on demo release and system requirements so please stay tuned.

Weekly Update #19

News 0 comments

Welcome, longtime fans and newcomers, to this week's update!

This week's update will feature our new addition to our game, the Bark UI system. We will also be showcasing the progress for the Tens Day comic from Creative Development.

Now, without further ado, let us dig in!

The team has been discussing ways to improve and inject life into our levels since before the Apartment Level began its modelling overhaul. One of the ideas from discussion was the Bark UI. Its addition to INT's game play allows us to convey the thoughts and emotions of characters more closely to target events and objects. We are also able to communicate characters' feelings toward each other in this manner. Below are a few examples of the Bark UI in action.

Delusional rambling of an enemy encountered in the apartment level.

Wes sharing his valuable wisdom about wartime.

The Electronic Voice thinks staring at a mesmerising pretty poster is hazardous.

The Bark UI provides quick, on-time, occasion-specific text representations of character emotions and interactions with others and the environment. It does not clutter up player's screen. Additionally, the Bark UI helps us provide extra lore snippets, clues, and bits of content. We hope you would agree that the Bark UI is a meaningful addition to players' gameplay experience.

"Name, Caran Slake. Above average height. Slim to average build. Position: Assassin. Preferred weapons: Knives, will utilize ranged and explosive equipments when necessary. Operation freedom: Advanced... UCE... death of over 100 colonists... unknown" - from the mouth of a dead thief.

Our Tens Day comic series is progressing through active development nicely. Today we are going to showcase a character from the comic series. Caran Slake is a character whom the readers will see in the comic. You can check out the first issue of the comic series at starboardgames.com. In addition, look to the blog for updates about the comic and other related Creative Development projects. We hope you enjoyed this update and look forward to seeing you again next week.

We thank you for your time and hope you have enjoyed this update. For regular updates on INT the game's progress and news about the team, watch this space!

Unfortunately there will not be a "Weekly Update" for this week as we are currently working on a MASSIVE "Year In Review" for you all. The newest episode of the "Rogue Space Podcast" should be headed out soon, however, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
