Gnoblins is a kind of roguelike(-like) strategy game, in 3d. It is basically a dungeon building game featuring a group of minions, called gnoblins. With the help of the gnoblins you will be able to construct your own dungeon, while exploring other parts of the dungeon with a handful of your minions. Description The game is a dungeon building game. Building up your dungeon with the help of your gnoblins is one of the key features of the game. Besides this, randomized levels, perma-death, and crafting are further features. The whole world of Gnoblins consists of only dungeons and each dungeon is procedurally modified. The development spirit of Gnoblins is 'roguelike' too. Therefore we will provide an early access to game and hope to build up a game community to help us refining the game.
I'm back with a new progression video. I had skipped the last month update due to not having something useful to show off. I had optimized the engine and went from 20-25 fps to a stable 60 fps in my test environment. But it is really hard to display the effect of a performance optimization ;-)
At last I moved the level generation from a designed and semi-generated approach to the new, completely procedural, in-game level generator. In combination with the reworked sewer level design finally something to show off.
Here is a new video dev-log showing the sewer level generation step for step.
This time a progression video to show off the new tutorial system, the garrison system, new difficulty levels and finally a much needed end game screen.
Here is the September developer log. This time I'm showing off the development of the mining interface over several versions.
This month I worked on improving the accessibility of the user interface. A lot of the more complex features have been moved on the main screen, especially...
It is time for an other developer log, this time in video form. In one of the previous videos I demonstrated the water simulation capabilities in Gnoblins...
I am super excited!
Any chances for new demo?
There's only a closed alpha version available, no public demo yet, sorry :)
As for the rendering, it depends on what kind of game you are going for. Something more like a kids game would be the 2 tone or 3 tone in my opinion. Gourand looks like it would be the deep dark and mysterious. And warp looks like brighter happier version than gourand. Personally, I like gourand since you are suppose to be underground and all.
Interesting concept with the RTS thrown in. One thing I am not understanding though is what kind of RTS? Micromanaging the gnoblins or more of tower defense with the gnoblins against creatures that want your loot? Are the gnoblins sort of your home defenders or are they pets that you take along with you?
The art style is really just a art style. The lights will be handled differently, though the surrounding is lit the same way. If it is dark, it is dark and you don't see what lurks in the darkness, you just hear it.
I've added the option to let the player choose himself the level of stylization. When your are more happy with the lowest setting, then choose it :)
The RTS part is really lightweight. You don't micromanage the gnoblins a lot (you choose a profession path). They are here to build your dungeon and craft for you Additionally it is planed, that you can take one with you on your journey through the dungeon, where he will react much like an autonomous pet and they will be useful when you need to defend your dungeon.
can't wait for demo and im tracking
Tracking. One of my favourite concepts.
You have my hopes up now don't leave them hanging.
Sounds interesting. I'm tracking the game and I'm also downloading the pre-alpha. I'll be sure to give you some feedback.
Sounds interesting.Watching;)
