Enola is a psychological horror/adventure game that delves into the inherent darkness of love, death and revenge. As Enola, you must survive a macabre world conjured up by the tortured memories of her love, Angelica. *If you purchase Enola on Desura, you also get a Steam key*

Report RSS Enola seeking funding to develop full game

Enola is a game I made for the ludum dare 22 contest. When the contest finished, I was struck by the idea of making a full game based on the concept, so I'm asking for help from the community to do it.

I am Sergio, an indie developer from El Salvador. Last December I made "Enola" (approximate pronuntiation "nwola") a small game for the 48 hour ludum dare game development competition, and I'd love to take the game to a new level, and deliver a full interactive experience. The response to the game was fairly positive, and it even won 2 gold medals on the voting phase (for theme and mood). The 48 hour game is mostly an exploration game, for the full version of Enola I want to make what I'd define as "horror/adventure," as it will combine puzzles and unnerving situations in a twisted world.

The concept of the game is pretty "interesting" (for the lack of a better word). You're a nameless character that finds itself in this weird world. You don't know who you are, or what you are, so you could be a man, a woman, a ghost, or an alien, and you don't know what the place is. You have to use the information you find to figure out what's going on and what the story is. The world is this twisted place, but it looks like this for a very specific reason. Maybe it's a dream or an alien planet, but there's a specific reason for this world to be like this.

The game I made for ludum dare was mostly an exploration game, but for the full version I want to combine exploration, puzzle mechanics, and unnerving situations. It would be like a combination of Myst and Silent Hill. I've also inspired by movies like The Blair Witch Project and Red Dragon for shaping the story of the game.

To develop the full game I'm asking your help, and donations. I have created a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo where you can donate any amount of money you want. Of course I'm offering different things in exchange of those donations, from a copy of the game, and a t-shirt, to a making of DVD or the full source code after the game is finished.

The money will be used for different things, like hiring artists of different disciplines since I'm obviously a person with enough talent to take on all aspects of game making. Money will also be used to get a spot in different gaming events, so I can show the game to more people.

If you like what you've seen of the game on this game profile page, and want to help me, visit my IndieGoGo campaign and make a donation.
