Hey Guys and Gals,

Sometimes it's great to take a break from the soul crushing burdens of indie game dev and just chill out for a bit. There are many aspects of developing a game that have nothing to do with gameplay as it were.

A successful game is like a steam engine...it needs vapor! Actually a successful game needs Steam but that's a whole another story. So, vapor is the next best thing.

The Simple Things...

All jokes aside, one of the things I learned in the last 6 years working with Unity on many projects that never saw the light of day was that : it's the simple things that are the hardest!

For example choosing a name for your game. The longer the name the sh*tier the game right? Well we got that part covered :)

Then there is the logo. We honestly thought that just throwing money at it would be enough to get a cool logo that would just work. But the truth is that it's hard to get the logo of your creation to actually portray the vision behind it.

The hardest part was getting everyone on the team to agree on a single design, and the bigger the team the harder it gets. So, it all started with this sketch :

After much deliberation and a few revisions it was decided that the skull wasn't alien enough and the logo itself didn't do a very good job of projecting that kickass sci-fi vibe we were all hoping for.
So, Darko our resident god of paint smudges made some more revisions and we got this :

Yeah, well that didn't seem to work either. It was good and all but it still felt like something was missing. A few more ideas were tossed back and forth and then suddenly we found that thing which was missing. An eye! Yep that's all we really needed...a sick looking eye!

As soon as we saw this version we all knew this was the logo we would be proud to slap on anything and everything that carried the name of Double Barrelled.

Now all we got to do is finish the damn game.

Next up...

Although this was supposed to be a systems overview update we just didn't have the time to finish the video. But we promise to give you more info on the inner madness of DB In the next update.
