Best Singleplayer

A mod which brings extra depth or significance to an engrossing singleplayer experience.

SWAT: Elite Force

For: SWAT 4

SWAT: Elite Force is a massive overhaul of SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate, making it into a more realistic tactical police simulator. Featuring new and more realistic equipment, merged campaigns, extra missions, permadeath, better AI, and bug fixes.

Just Cause 3 Multiplayer Mod

For: Just Cause 3

Just Cause 3 Multiplayer is a free modification bringing highly-customizable multiplayer to the Just Cause franchise. Our modification opens the door to incredible multiplayer possibilities including racing, deathmatch, skydiving, roleplaying or freeroam. But it doesn't have to stop there: Thanks to our powerful scripting API server owners can easily create gamemodes on their own.

Best Graphical Overhaul

A mod which focuses on beatifying an older game with technical and artistic upgrades.

Resident Evil 4 HD Project

For: Resident Evil 4

No version of RE4 has completely updated the visuals to true HD. This project will. In preparation for the original game, Capcom gathered texture assets by photographing a variety of real-world locations, primarily throughout Spain and Wales. For this project, Albert has gone to these same locations to gather higher resolution assets. The result is a visual experience that is as true to the original game as possible, presented in resolutions up to 16 times that of the original game.

Best Crossover

to make something unique and special.

Half-Payne

For: Half-Life

Half-Payne is a Half-Life mod that aims to bring some gameplay bits from Max Payne. It ended up as interesting way to replay the game and this is the first time ever I tried to mod the game by dwelling into its source.

Castlevania: Simon’s Destiny

For: Doom

Castlevania: Simon's Destiny is a non-profit GZDOOM based fangame born as a love letter to this legendary franchise. This mod aims to reinvent the very first NES title of the franchise with a nostalgic yet brand new first person gameplay.

This is a mod that we wouldn’t be surprised to see as an official expansion,

or be worth paying money for.

Half Life: Caged

For: Half-Life

Future Games Select and Cayle George bring you a prison escape like no other in this electrifying modification for Half-Life! Break from captivity, conquer the facility and discover the secrets of Half-Life: C.A.G.E.D.!

developers and continues the series in a new and interesting direction

Command & Conquer: Tiberium Secrets

For: Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars

Tiberium Secrets is a total overhaul mod set in a parallel universe that introduces three new factions that can stand in conjunction and potentially independent from the Command and Conquer Tiberium universe. These new factions come complete with diverse units, structures, mechanics, and lore.

For: Fallout: New Vegas

This is a near Total Conversion for Fallout: New Vegas. Fallout: Project Brazil adds an all new story around a new player character, an adopted resident of Vault 18. You'll discover a pitched battle between the Survivalist Raiders, the New California Republic, and The Super Mutants, which shapes the politics and events leading to the NCR's invasion of the Mojave.

Mod Monster

Special award presented by mod.io, for a game that has embraced modding

stronger than any other on ModDB in 2017.

Hello Neighbor

By: Dynamic Pixels | tinyBuild

Hello Neighbor is a stealth horror game about sneaking into your neighbor's house to figure out what horrible secrets he's hiding in the basement. You play against an advanced AI that learns from your every move. Really enjoying climbing through that backyard window? Expect a bear trap there. Sneaking through the front door? There'll be cameras there soon. Trying to escape? The Neighbor will find a shortcut and catch you.

I sure hope the mod.io award sticks around for next years, it's neat to encourage devs to support modding.

Anyways, congrats to all the modders! Great job folks!

Another Continuing Legacy Award contender for me would have to go to Total Annihilation: Escalation. They really hammered it home this year with their last update. Basically added an entire new game on top of TA for the 20th Anniversary. Taesc.tauniverse.com

Or maybe Fallout: Resurrection. They also knocked it out of the park again for a 20 year old game. Resurrection.cz

Oh totally agree on this. Mind you we predominately look at mods active within our community but the work these teams are doing is amazing!

Moddb.com used to be active on ModDB. Not sure what changed. Their last update was just on their website. I think they are primarily focusing on their discord and forums these days.
