Yet another "Someone's" Brewing, where we introduce the latest member of our team, Edvard!

Posted by on

We have a small surprise for you today, yet another team member that we would like to introduce. This time our newest addition to the development side of things, Edvard!

Edvard managed to find some time to answer our questions while working on Ale Abbey's tutorial with the rest of the team; a hard task, we assure you, but a very important one especially when it comes to teaching you the ropes in brewing and recipe crafting ;)

-- Share a few things about yourself

My name is Edvard, and I'm currently located in Tallinn, Estonia. I was brought onto the team as a programmer, but I love all things UX (user experience), game design, gaming, and photography!

-- What is your primary source of inspiration?

For me, the thing that motivates and inspires me is "experiences." Specifically, creating them for other people. By "experiences" I mean giving people the opportunity to feel and, well, experience something they wouldn't be able to in their own life, putting them in someone else's shoes for a bit. The concept of "experience" is far-reaching for me, and it touches on almost every aspect of the final creation. To me, giving people an experience starts the moment they hear about what you're making, all the way through to them actually interacting with it.

-- What other games or projects have you worked on?

I've been working on games for over ten years now, but mostly just as a hobby. It's actually why I learned to program in the first place! There have been a number of personal projects I've worked on over the years, from games, to "art simulations," to trying to procedurally generate a city. A lot of these never made it very far, but at the start of 2022 I decided to take my hobby more seriously and work on a game full-time. That game is Novus, a sci-fi strategy city builder with a sarcastically dark sense of humor. I'm still working on it in my spare time, so needless to say, I love Game Dev hah!

-- Do you like beer? Do you brew?

I've managed to keep this a secret all my time working on the project, but the answers are no and no. In fact, I don't drink at all! I hope that doesn't disqualify me from working on Ale Abbey...

If you want to reach out to Edvard, and maybe talk some sense into him about brewing beer, you can always find him on our Discord server or under his own Twitter/X handle @EdvardDashD.

Tune in next week for our regular set of Ale Abbey's news! For now, enjoy your weekend responsibly ;)
