Another Friday, another dev update to quench your thirst for Ale Abbey news!

Today we got you a speedy post, about the infamous trifecta of beer markets available in Ale Abbey, the secret traits your beer can acquire, and beer glasses... no time to wonder, get to reading and find out!

-- Ale Abbey's Market system gets its first UI

The marketplace where you'll be able to sell your precious beer in Ale Abbey, won't consist of one... or two, but three different markets with their very own fads and preferences as well as other kinds of characteristics to differentiate them. If you're looking for a rule of thumb to help you differentiate them, the Lower Market will serve the poorer population around the Abbey, the Middle Market will tend to the needs of the Middle class, where the Upper Market - you guessed it - will supply beer to those whose hands never worked a field.

Still a work in progress, but we love our humble beginnings (and where they end up taking us) every single time ;)

-- Beer traits

And since we're on the subject of humble beginnings...

We have talked - albeit not extensively - about the traits a brewed beer can acquire in Ale Abbey. Don't worry about the details for now, a post with some numbers and names further explaining the system is bound to happen in the future.

All in all, a brewed beer has two chances to develop these traits. Once when you're crafting it's recipe (which will set a number of traits for that brew from that point forward), and a more randomly generated sets of traits when the recipe is brewed.

Remember... very WIP!

-- Perfecting the beer glass

If the question is when do we stop refining, the answer is never. Especially when it comes to beer, beer paraphernalia, Monks, Nuns, rooms, and... well, lets just say the work never ends.

Our Art Director, Francesco, has been working tirelessly on polishing the epitome of beer, the full glass, wherever it appears... So here are a few examples of the work behind the scenes (above) and a bit of extra flair to the glass you're already acquainted with in the Recipe Crafting And here we are with yet another beer glass getting some TLC.

-- The glasses you need to know about

We don't want to sound snobbish, but proper beer always comes in a glass. Stemmed or unstemmed, small, large or a pitcher... the right glass is always the one for the beer you're drinking - or the one that is immediately available ;)

Having said that, and although there are quite a few, three types are very prominent and you have probably already used them in the fine art of beer tasting.

  • Tulip or Snifter: These glasses are often used for aromatic beers like IPAs, Belgian ales, and stouts. Their shape traps aromas, allowing you to fully appreciate the beer's bouquet
  • Pilsner Glass: Tall and slender, pilsner glasses showcase the clarity and effervescence of lagers and pilsners. They also help maintain a frothy head
  • Weizen Glass: This glass is designed for wheat beers and hefeweizens, with a tall, slender shape to highlight the beer's cloudy appearance and aromatic esters

Of you can forget we said anything and crack a cold one open... it's the weekend already!

Tune in next week for more of Ale Abbey's news! For now, enjoy your weekend responsibly ;)
