The Hive Queen rules an entire planet inhabited by Coggorts, a race of mechanical insectoids in the Solar Sails universe. Under her strict rule, the Coggorts civilization has achieved immense technological superiority over all other species in the galaxy. And yet, despite all her power, she feels like she is losing control over her hivemind. More and more Coggorts break free from her mental bonds and develop their own self-awareness. Free will and curiosity destroyed the Coggorts civilization hundreds of years ago. The Hive Queen won't let it happen again.
