- Daily Quests

Most of the last week was spent with experimenting on visual effects for the monster abilities ingame. There is quite some progress however we will need more time to come up with a good and fitting visual style for the ability effects. However it's already really promising and the game feels more intense with cool effects :)

Daily Quests!
To take a break from all the UI heavy tasks of the last weeks I decided to finish the daily quest system in the past days as teasered in our #dev-media channel in our Discord. Each player will get 3 randoms quests per day which will grant them gold on completion. This quests include tasks like winning some amount of games or defeating Ploxmons or other tasks. Each quest grants a different amount of gold depending on the difficulty. For some flexibility a user can reroll each quest once to get a new one which might fit a little bit more to his game preferences.

In the playtest many people complained about getting not enough gold from games to buy new card packs. The quest system should solve this issue since every player has now a daily gold gain (for a little work ;D).

Together with the quest system I added a daily login reward mechanism which will grant each player some small amount of free gold for each daily login. This is a really common system for online games so we decided to add this system aswell. For active players this is a really nice little bonus to buy new packs more quickly. For inactive players it might be some little stimulation to at least login once a day to get this free gold ;).

The next steps for the upcoming week are:

  • Working on the UI improvement of the ingame scene. Including reworking the new boss and turn/attack order display as teasered in the #dev-media section in our Discord.
  • More playing around with visual effects!
  • Doing some server-side changes for the achivement system that will be added at some point in the future. Since the quest system is really similar to the achievements I can easily extend the current system and adapt it to support achivements aswell.

Overall some progress has been made this week and things are coming together finally. As always there is still much left to do however more and more features are getting finished.
