We've been on a long hiatus from updating news, but we've really gone back to the drawing board with Berimbau to produce the most entertaining and intense melee combat we can. As such we've implemented a lot of systems that give the game a more visceral and cinematic feel. A dynamic camera coded by J "OneEyed" R of Mario Kart Source gives players a fantastic view of the action, while animations by Flux and Fuse9 immerse the player in combat. Add in an awesome slow motion ragdoll death sequence, and you're the actor in the movie.
We've got a lot of media to show off to give everyone a sense of our new direction and just how far the mod has come.
A short video showcasing all of our latest efforts. This PRERELEASE trailer focuses on quick action shots and does not give an accurate view of a full duel.
A couple fantastic screenshots from our latest playtest. The Ninja-Knight has been fully implemented and animated. All maps have had an HDR pass and a detail pass. We also have a bevvy of new particle effects, including the new sword tracers, block impacts, and more.
As development on our first release tops the hill, we're on the lookout for a few key positions to add to the team.
Foley Artist - The second thing that sells a sword fight beyond visuals is aural, and as such we are looking for a seasoned foley artist to bring our sword swings and movements to life. Access to high-end audio recording equipment and other sound equipment is a huge plus, as well as working with samples and editing sound. TV or film work (university) also a boon. Samples required.
Voice Actors - We're on the lookout for Asian voice actors to voice our characters, both male and female. Different tonalities and octaves are all welcome, but an Asian accent or the ability to mimic one are required. Samples required.
