I like to create GoldSRC maps, especially love the not so detailed, old-school style. I also translate STALKER mods to English in my free time. You can browse my images to see various unfinished and work-in-progress projects of mine, designed for Half-Life. If you have questions about anything, feel free to ask. Finally, if you're looking for a playtester to test your HL mod or map, let me know.
A semi-finished section from a parking garage map I'm working on. Here we can barely make out a scientist arguing with Gus the forklift driver about him taking up his parking space with his crates.
Behind the scientist there's a sloped road going up to a guard hut and a metal door leaing topside behind the player, which is still WIP. If all goes well, this area will most likely be the starting map.
Things are coming together nicely for a possible mod :)
Hmm...curvy... ;)
Nice details
Heh, we all like a little curve. Why not add it to the maps also :)
Might I suggest to add some additional vehicle variations: Either more Black Mesa Jeeps or even some Civilian Cars.
I've uploaded you a test map. It contains 5 separate versions of the Bmrf Explorer as well as my Black Mesa truck I used in Military Duty. For the last thing you need my firestorm.wad for it to get displayed. I suggest importing the textures into your own custom wad or decompile the specific map since I used -Wadinclude for my mod.
Should there be any other missing textures included just fix it up in the editor. It should only use the regular Half-Life.wad and that of my truck. Still I had many other wads running in the Editor. So it's possible that J.A.C.K created a dependency on any given wad. file even though in reality there's none.
RMF Dl: File.io
2 of the Jeeps require some additional minor work with their window frames. The other variants are nearly perfect.
As for the screenshot: Brilliant work. Possibly a bit to dark for my taste. Parking decks are usually well lid.
Hey, thanks for the .rmf, very generous.
I took a look, and indeed they are very nice, but thankfully I'm not there yet where I have to turn to other mappers for their prefabs. I can't just grab other, talented people's work :)
But you'll be glad to know that your pickup truck has inspired me and I whipped this up just now:
Ibb.co
Give it a new set of textures with a different color, wipe out the logo and it'll be a nice, civilian car. I'll get on with it eventually.
Thanks again for the comment.
Very nice and so fast too. I didn't create any of the prefabs although I fixed some of them back then and down scaled them which in return called vertex edits onto the plan.
I had only edited some of the textures back then. Slapped a Black Mesa Logo onto the truck for instance.
Still feel free to use prefabs if it safes you time. That's why people shared them in the first place providing some sort of library exchange for the mappers to benefit from one another. There's no shame in using such things. It would be naturally totally different if you'd be working on a retail product for which you'd charge money.
Anyway I wish you best of luck. So when can I beta test your brilliant looking mod? :D
Well it doesn't matter we all know you're a skilled mapper anyway ;)
As for the beta testing, it's going to be a long, long while before that happens, but you'll be one of the first ones to know. All I have right now are three to four disjointed maps.
Keep me posted and no rush. Take your good time. It would appear that you're finalizing each and every map straight away. I recommend caution. When I was building my maps I too pretty much finalized them straight away including the npc scripting. Often I had to partially rebuild the maps because I didn't think further ahead as to the current map I was working on.
Of course I had some general design ideas but my best maps usually got constructed spontaneously like that loading bay with the tram.
Best you think on right away where you want to let your map start & end and what the player will see in the map that follows afterwards. So to avoid the mistakes I made by not having a proper plan in mind.
Anyway you've got my full confidence. You're clearly an outstanding mapper yourself. :)
