I wrote a ****-ton then hit cancel, so I'm just going to summarize what I wrote initially.

I have a steady framerate of 60 FPS in the default world now (although I feel like I must be seeing the frame skips or something) but still have a framerate of around 30 FPS in the infinite world. I already knew about the x64 version, although it doesn't seem like it changes much on my end. Shadows drop FPS considerably btw, my 60 FPS in the default world drops to 30 FPS and in the infinite world drops to 10 FPS.

I'm going to make another infinite world w/o caves and see if that was the issue.

Thanks for the help btw!

I'm playing on an infinite world and, yes, it happens on the default worlds as well (at least the initial one).

And it's no problem! The game's in pre-alpha, I'm not going to expect everything to run smoothly. I crash a lot too. I'm thinking it might be Windows 8, not sure though.

Hey, I just wanted to say that my computer runs this slow even though I can play Battlefield 3 on Ultra at acceptable framerates (30 FPS) and Skyrim at smooth framerates (45-60 FPS). Any reason for this? I even turned off the shadows and noise to see if it would increase my framerate at all. I know my computer's not the best ever, but I would think it should be able to run this. Here are my PC specs.

OS: Windows 8 Pro x64
GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX 460
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 830 OCed to 3.2 GHz
RAM: 8 GB DDR3
Main HDD: Samsung 840 120 GB SSD (this is where the game is located)
Seconday HHD: Western Digital WD Black WD1002FAEX 1TB

I don't like the shirt color, but that's just my personal preference.

Overall, things are looking quite nice. The eye is looking quite large, but again, my personal preference. The animations are smooth, the levels look great, and the new UI is quite an improvement. Looks completely different compared to the previous video, but in a good way. Can't wait to see how things progress!

Awesome! Can't wait to see it!

I was thinking he looked a little odd in the latest screenshot. That would explain things. Hopefully the video will clear things up.

Love the cave design, as well as the character redesign. Not sure which version of the eye I liked more, but it still looks pretty good.

Game's looking amazing man. Hard to believe it's only been in development for mere months!

You could always have free dev builds on Indie DB and give people the option to do the alphafund if they think it's worth it. Both Indie DB and Desura will receive constant updates until a certain point in development, beta perhaps, then it will be only on Desura.

I would think $10 is a fair price for the alphafund at this stage of development. They'll receive constant updates with more and more content as time progresses, and they'll be able to fund a project they love. Sounds like a win-win situation to me.

That's, of course, if you want to do alphafunding via Indie DB. You could also do a kickstarter, or a combination of the two. You'd probably have to wait until you have a close to final story for the game and it's further in development though. It can be hard for unfinished indie games to get funded via a Kickstarter.

Idk, just throwing out ideas.

Can't wait to see it!

You should think about doing an alphafund and releasing new builds via Desura (and Indie DB if you want to do it like AlwaysGeeky) to make some money for it.

I must say, watching games grow and actually being able to experience each build myself is amazing. That's totally up to you of course. It's not like games usually have paid alphas.

It's no problem.

I think, for now, rather than giving suggestions to a game I know little about, I will wait and see how things develop according to your image. In the end, it is your game, and changing the original direction before its even fully implemented would be wrong IMO.

I shall await your post regarding the Kickstarter. ^^

Can't wait for the Kickstarter! I hope to support you however much I can! So few indie games are pushing out the quality you are (I can count them with my fingers), so I hope you are successful with the Kickstarter and the game. I'm trying to tell people I know about your game and other amazing indie titles.

Great indie companies can push out a level of innovation that larger companies would never dare to attempt, and that's why I love indie games!

Yes, please, I would LOVE to see a video! ^^

Game's looking amazing. Glad you took a chance with 3D. Hopefully all your hard work, time spent, and money spent pays off! Your game is one of the very few indie games I follow, which means I consider it great! I'm really excited if you can't tell, lol.

It's great man! Love the new update. You should really optimize the shadows though. I have a GTX 460 and can run Battlefield 3 at Ultra settings, but this game lags. xD

Can't wait to see crafting and stuff of the sort implemented! Also more exploration and quests. I think this game has great potential!

True, but I might do the same thing if I DON'T get in the beta, lol. I preordered Borderlands 2 and have it preloaded on my PC, ready for the 10 PM PST release tonight, yet the only thing I cared about was whether or not I was in the Grindea beta, lol.

Doesn't look like I'm in it quite yet, but I'll continue to wait! I wanna do some Let's Plays on my YouTube channel too! Haven't done any in like a year, lol.

I agree, you need to make cover that's as good as the game, something that will attract a person's eye and make them look at the back. You really shouldn't make box art until development is either over or almost over, for that reason.

You don't need too good of a PC to run this game. I bought my new PC last year for like 200-300 dollars then bought a Radeon HD 4650, OCed it, and now I can play Just Cause 2 at 30-40 FPS with High Textures.

The only reason it seems as if it requires a highly optimized PC is because it only runs in DirectX 10. As long as you have a motherboard with at least either a Socket 775 or AM2, you can just buy a dual-core processor, or better, and a Radeon HD 4650, or better, and then you can play the game at either the same or higher settings than the console counterparts. You also need either Vista or Windows 7 and 2 Gigs of RAM, but who doesn't nowadays.
