Tiberian Sun: Reborn brings the exciting storyline and epic clashes from the classic Westwood Studios game, Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun to realm of first person shooters, with a twist. We've remained loyal to the style and feel of the 1999 classic, while integrating content from its expansion Firestorm with a bit of updated history to add to the mix. Built off the W3D engine Westwood Studios built for classics such as Earth & Beyond and Command & Conquer: Renegade finished up in 2001, we help bring the fight to you as you play out your role as any one of a number of infantry classes participating in team-based combat that often involves land, sea, and air combined-arms clashes that just don't happen in any other game. Oh, and did we mention it's FREE?

Post news Report RSS RenEvo Executive Producer Update November 2007

What is the status on the projects of RenEvo : Reborn and The Dead Six. What we are working on and what is coming.

Posted by on

Welcome to November 2007, granted I am about a week or so late.

First and foremost, let me say thank you to the communities that have stuck in there with RenEvo over the years, it has been a lot of fun up until now, and you have all made it possible.

I would like to take some time and let everyone know where RenEvo stands on a few projects, as well as give some information on what has been going on.

Reborn
Reborn has been undergoing preperations for the Infantry beta.  Redoing all of the presets and cleaning up the assets has been a huge undertaking, but it is finally coming to a close.  We didn't quite make that anticipated date, but what is a date really?  Anyone who knows anything about design knows everything is always late. Granted this project has been massively late in its lifetime.  But don't worry, we hope to get a release out to the public eventually.

The Dead Six
The Dead Six has been piping away recruiting new staff, we are currently in the midst of building our structure, purchasing, and harvesting systems.  So far we have been very successful in getting a lot of our wanted functionality in, and are looking at having a tech demo not too long after the release of Crysis.  The team has been great in getting things done.

SWGLabs (Vb.Net SWG Server Emulator)
This project is canceled until further notice, I don't have the time nor the resources to create this entire system. If anyone is interested in any of the code, I would be happy to give it to them.

RenEvo
As you know, or don't know, I have been trying to take a more active blogging schedule.  This is due to the fact that I have a lot in my brain, and not a lot of time to talk to people about it.  And generally most of the people I know just yawn when I talk about some of it. So I figured getting the blogs up about it might get one person to find my rants useful.  So far we have 3 different categories, Community (General Stuff), Development (Stuff about development in general), and VB.Net (an area where i give how-to's in VB.Net).  This is something I am trying to do at least 4-5 times a week, so if you haven't been there yet, check out Renevo.com .

Some Q&A

Q:Where have you been on (insert project here)?  We haven't seen or heard from you for a while?
A:Just an FYI, my father-in-law was recently diagnosed with Cancer, so I have been taking my evenings and spending them with my wife being her support system.

Q:Why don't you post on Reborn?
A:Reborn website is blocked at my work by a Sonicwall Content filter, this impedes my posting during the day, and read Question #1 for why I don't post at night.  I do try to read them at least 3-4 times a week, I just might not have time to reply to everything.

Q:(insert project here) for (insert project here)?
A:No, I am merely providing support for the two teams. Unfortunately at this time one team is running much more self-sufficiant than the other, and I will be working to improve that.

Q:What about media updates?
A:I know, everyone likes pretty pictures, next year my goal is to get more media out to the community faster, it usually takes a low priority for me.

Q:Are there any job openings?
A:RenEvo is currently looking for 3d Modelers & Texture artists for The Dead Six, Level Designers for Reborn and The Dead Six, as well as Web Designers for RenEvo.  If you are interested in any of these, post a reply here.  Just be aware that samples are REQUIRED before you will even be considered for any position.

Q:If I work for RenEvo, do I get paid?
A:As wierd as it sounds, I get this one a lot.  The answer, no, RenEvo is a volunteer only virtual company.

Q:When will you post something like this again?
A:I will be posting an update like this monthly, this one is a bit slim, as I needed to get it out there, but you can expect them to be more detailed and focused next month.

Q:So, are you back?
A:Never went anywhere, but you can consider me still somewhat sidetracked with my family situation, they come first, then my wife, then my job, then RenEvo.

Sidenote by Renardin:I confirm what Dante wrote. On my side I have to finish the disruptor and the MCV and then we have everything ready for game implementation. The infantry beta needs more work and maps and we are working it.
