Red Alert: A Path Beyond brings the exciting storyline and epic clashes from the classic Westwood Studios game, Command & Conquer: Red Alert to realm of first person shooters, with a twist. We've remained loyal to the style and feel of the 1996 classic, while integrating content from its expansions Counterstrike and The Aftermath with a bit of updated history to add to the mix. Built off the W3D engine Westwood Studios built for classics such as Earth & Beyond and Command & Conquer: Renegade finished up in 2001, we help bring the fight to you as you play out your role as any one of a number of infantry classes participating in team-based combat that often involves land, sea, and air combined-arms clashes that just don't happen in any other game. Oh, and did we mention it's FREE?

Description

The Tesla Tank is a rugged, high-tech weapon
system that is designed to, quite simply, destroy
everything that enters its sight with amazing
accuracy and efficiency. While it is not as mobile
as the V2 Launcher, it excels at both ranged
combat and close-in battle as it has a very short
minimum range of practical use. Tesla Tanks do not
neccessarily have the best armor on the
battlefield but it is sufficient to allow it to
take out a couple opponents before turning home
for repairs, which is hastened by the surprising
top it can achieve riding on a rubberized
half-track (which is notably vulnerable to mines).

The Tesla Tank is capable of directing a bolt of
electricity towards any land or sea target it has
line-of-sight to. By using a special high-energy
beam projection device (which is not itself
suitable for use as a weapon) mounted on the front
of the vehicle, the Tesla Tank apparently controls
ionization of the surrounding air; Allied R&D
analysts suspect that by manipulation of dielectic
breakdown properties, the Tesla Tank thusly
manages to even direct arcs of artificial
lightning up towards helicopters.

Unfortunately, a downside of this system is that
the Tesla Tank has a limited cone of fire, roughly
180 degrees in front of itself and roughly 90
degrees upwards. Due to this single design flaw,
it may be possible to flank the Tesla Tank with
lighter vehicles such as the Ranger or Light Tank.
If a driver managed to evade the bulk of the
discharges on approach, or ambushed the Tesla Tank
from behind cover, he might succeed in staying in
its blind spots long enough to safely destroy it.
But with a price tag roughly double that of a V2
launcher, you probably won't find one of
these vehicles going out solo, especially due to
their vital role as mobile Soviet anti-aircraft
weapons.
