Freeborn is the story of Mark Vesco’s coming of age. Once an inspired youngster, Mark finds himself living a listless, dutiful existence just two years out of high school. When an old friend contacts Mark about reuniting for a competitive card tournament, you’ll take control of his words, actions, and destiny.
In the country of Arithia, there’s no shortage of eccentric and interesting characters to meet and defeat in card battles. By branching from the beaten path, you’ll be rewarded with a rich storyworld full of dramatic and comic escapades.
Choose your strategy, pick your opponent, and draw your hand. It’s time for Ekosi, the radical revival of Pazaak! Inspired by the iconic minigame from Knights of the Old Republic, Ekosi takes the hit/stand dilemma of Blackjack to a new level of strategy with an array of special cards to manipulate the score in your favor. Easy to learn and endlessly challenging, each turn in Ekosi is a strategic choice!
Strategizing extends beyond the card interface. Take your deck with you and shape it over time by finding, purchasing, and winning new cards. Visit card shops to turn match winnings into new cards as you build the perfect deck.
Everyone likes options. In Freeborn, get outside the familiar binary options and choose from up to six possible choices in any given dialogue. Whether you’re a comedian or a combatant, a Casanova or a coward, there’s a choice to fit your conversation style.
Arithia is a small country with worlds to see. Explore diverse cities and terrains as you get lost in the semi-open, immersive 3D world. From coastal paradises to ornate casinos, from sprawling grasslands to towering skyscrapers, Arithia has it all. Where to?
Bang your head to energetic battle tracks and lose yourself in ambient overworld tunes, all composed by Brandon Ledbetter for our original soundtrack.

Hey friends,
It’s been an unbelievably busy couple of months for the team. Who knew that updating your game’s name and assets on all platforms would be so much work?
Okay, so we knew it was going to be a pain, but still. Updating all our information reminded us of the sheer number of platforms developers need to be on these days. Sheesh. Thankfully, most of the admin is done and we can get back to more updates on development.
Today, we’re proud to announce that all the environments have been completed for Freeborn. We are now in the process of populating the later environments and implementing the quest structures and associated battles/dialogue scenes. Plus there are still some touch-ups that need to be done for some of our older environments. But we are all done with creating new levels! 🎉
Here’s a quick run-through of the most recent, and final, levels Jesse has created. We’re excited to fill them up and finish the story!
Mark admires a statue.
Mark finds himself back in a medical setting.
Mark on a cruise ship deck.
Mark returns to the beach.
As I mentioned before, we’ve been updating our game pages on sites like itch.io and GameJolt, but we are also on some new social platforms like our Instagram. If you use the ‘gram, go ahead and give us a follow! We’ll be posting smaller, more frequent updates there.
The relationship between promoting Freeborn and developing Freeborn has been deeply entwined for years. Once upon a time, an editing decision when working on a trailer led to a full overhaul of the dialogue system!
Recently, our promotion has largely been about organic engagement on Reddit, Twitter, and other platforms. We’ve been sharing videos and images of our game, and getting a combination of incredibly kind wishes and very savvy feedback on areas for improvement.
One area that we’ve had in mind for a while is the user interface. In the coming weeks/months, we’re going to do an update of the various UI elements in the game. And there are a lot! From the start menu, to the in-game pause menu, to the mini-map and observation icons, to the Ekosi card match/inventory interfaces, to the dialogue system… Yeah, a lot.

Ekosi post-match UI (+ an amusing bug where TylerBot's full-frame/head portraits are accidentally swapped).
Our main goal is to bring these separate systems into a unified design logic, with a consistent aesthetic no matter where you are in the gameplay loop. We’re aiming for a minimal UI since we love our art and overworld and want to let them take center stage!
We’re excited to show you that work as it comes along. Until then, thanks for reading! The next devlog is going to be #69, which is of course a special occasion. We’ll do you proud.
With love,
Deckpoint Studio
Our latest update introduces our new name, significant level design progress, and character refreshes.
The Deckpoint team is here again with a hot new update as we leave the cold behind us.
Hot updates on drastic redesigns to art, the opening segments of the game, and more!
The Luckless Seven team is hard at work redefining the opening game experience.

dope
I am using an MX-15 Debian Jessie 32bit Linux system.
Only version 0.561 works on my computer.
Which version of Unity is being used? 4.6.4?
Just played a bit of the demo. Interesting game, hope you add more content later on :P.
Thank you for playing! We'll definitely be adding a lot of new features to the game over the next couple months. We've been working hard on the overworld and dialogue system, and we should have them implemented into the demo within the next couple months. We hope you'll take another look at the game when those changes are up!
Tracking;)
