Deus Ex Machina in an exploration into a fan remake and modernisation of the original in Unity, redesigning systems and game mechanics to conform to modern iterations of the franchise and the genre as a whole. Not designed to be an exact remake of the original but instead and evolution of it with the intention being at this early stage to produce a reimagined Liberty Island as a portfolio piece.

Description

This project aims to convert all original dialog to the newer paradigm of segmenting potential speech options into a meta layer of intent with attached speech as a secondary.

The challenge presented here is to infer what the original meaning behind the speech is and then hope that all current lines of dialog still make sense to the player. But since the paths already exist, the meaning of the speech shouldn't change.

Subtitles to be on or off as default to be determined.

Another thing to note is that all dialog will be done in the FPP, to match the overall desire to have all actions the player does being in the FPP which I will touch on in a later update. Unless of course speech in FPP proves to have a negative effect on the experience then compromises will be made, but I doubt this will be an issue.
