Planetary engine that can be used with real elevation data of arbitrary resolution, while being progressively enhanced by fractal algorithms. The fractal algorithms refine and introduce details down to centimeter resolution and can be parametrized by elevation and land class data. A completely random fractal terrain is possible too, or a terrain can be sketched in rough resolution with fractal generating the details. Level of detail ranges from thousands of kilometers down to centimeters, with full visibility. The engine is fully asynchronous, majority of the algorithms running on the GPU while the rest is distributed to multiple CPU cores.

Looks extremly awesome for alpha. I guess that with some more work, we will not be able to recognize real photos from screenshots from this engine (just like with the rest of the landscape already).

WOW! Just... WOW! For an Alpha that is. I can see a few places it could use improving, but you probably have them written down anyway.

GOOD WORK GUYS!

See, this is why I love this engine. It is just so incredibly detailed. When someone puts some AAA artwork in it, this will become *the* engine for games, open world or otherwise.

The next step should go for the atmospheric effects: some fog, clouds and godrays and you'll get the best looking engine out there!

One of the best looking engines I've seen. I'm really looking forward to any game that will be based on this :))

This will surely put CryEngine to shame once it's completed... I can see this engine being put to pretty damn good use some day...

still mind boggling what it's able to achieve at this stage, but honestly, this scene almost makes me want to play a fishing game lol and I'm not one for simulated games when I can do the real deal, so this is actualy a compliment =)
