We're now fully into the “prepare for release” mode, so we've almost only worked on bug fixing and performance. We've decided to aim for October 24 for the full Pretty Scary Update. Here's this week's changelog:
- Minor terrain additions for the witch
- Flatworld configuration now allows you to generate trees, strongholds etc
- A number of new NBT tags for items (intended for custom map makers)
- The pick block action now works on items
- Pressing the 1-9 hotkeys while hovering over an item will put that item into the inventory bar
- The left-click action will no longer open doors, pull levers, push buttons or open trapdoors. Use the right mouse button!
- Firespread has been slightly nerfed again to prevent infinitely spreading fires
- Fixed the glitchy block popping bug
- Fixed beacon rendering
- Fixed a crash related to map items in strongholds
- More bugfixes & tweaks!

I love the name tags idea, just wish you could do it in the game instead :/
I'll miss that old "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES" feel that forest fires had reacquired for a while....
i wish they'd get some mod api stuff done so I dont have to get all these different mod loaders for one thing
THIS IS THE ONLY USEFUL THING THEY CAN POSSIBLY ADD NOW.
I'm ******* tired of these useless additions, the disregard for their own promises, and the general contempt they seem to show their customers.
adding Forge doesn't take a long time, plus once you install forge into the minecraft.jar you just put every other mod into the mods folder. Sure a slight inconvenience but you get used to it after awhile. Not to mention your minecraft experience will be way better with mods. Waiting for cool stuff to be added in vanilla will have you waiting forever because it will never happen...
You clearly haven't tried to get mod loaders to work for Empire at War.
that's not hard at all. and I have the gold pack.
That's interesting considering I couldn't ever get it to even acknowledge a single mods existence.
And I had the originals.
"The left-click action will no longer open doors, pull levers, push buttons or open trapdoors. Use the right mouse button!"
I wonder how long till this gets changed back for being idiotic outside of creative mode. I'm not calling people who do use right click for these things outside creative stupid, I'm calling the whole forcing it on everyone thing idiotic.
Firespread has been slightly nerfed again to prevent infinitely spreading fires... :(
I miss catastrophic forestfires. Sure it's good to nerf it for public servers, but me and 4 other friends runs a private one so there is no chance of greifing there, only accidents which always was just extremley funny.
But I liked infinitely spreading fires. That's what fire is supposed to do!
More stuff that should have been in the game at 1.0.
GEE WHAT A SHOCK.
When's the optimization update going to be released?
What's that?
"Never," you say?
Again, what a shock. Oh wait, it's not.
I don't like how they removed left clicking on doors and stuff.
I for one applaud the nerfing of fire. especially for servers.
I also like the custom data stuff. I got me a Notch Head. it actually shows his face on it. I can wear it myself too!
and I have a "Herobrine Sword", with very high stats, and 2 lones of lore. it's cool!
though I do miss the left clicking on doors.
As small of a feature as it is, I like the standardization of using the right mouse button to open things. It will make it a lot easier to "mine" doors, trapdoors, etc.
Agreed. This was an enhancement to the input that was a long time coming. I frequently yell 'consistency of interface' at the screen while playing Minecraft, and this is the first of many small changes I've wanted. So hurray, says I.
