Im not the biggest fan of most stealth games. Most of the mechanics seem either too easy or down right cheesy. So I felt this had a good mix n match of both being able to skulk around in the shadows, along with taking on the persona of different people which held certain complications depending on whose clothing you stole.

The only real hiccups that I found mainly involved soldiers/Guards becoming suspicious and never really resetting. Leading me to get impatient and shoot half the base. But other than that the gameplay was smooth, and often sort of funny. Like tricking the Doctor into killing himself accidentally.

For the curious. Here is my review of the Demo:

This plays just as advertised. One thing that I really enjoy is unlike other roguelike titles it really lets you have some time to roam around a bit, get your bearings, and just screw around before getting into the thick of things. Games like Nuclear Throne can feel extremely rushed depending on what area you spawn into.

I believe the only thing I felt was lacking was the boss didnt seem to try to slash at me with his claws when I got into melee range. Other than that the whole thing feels extremely polished this early on. Awesome job. Definitely going to be watching to see how this game evolves.

I also put together a small showcase video for anyone interested in taking a look:

Those sound effects can really make the hair stand up on the back of your neck when those aliens/creatures spawn. Very nice work on that. Hopefully you keep those as the game is developed and evolves.

Heres my playthrough to help spread the word: Youtube.com

Otherwise Im backing you fellas on kickstarter and am looking forward to seeing were this all goes.

Cheers

Im always excited for a psychological horror game that also has top notch graphics and environment. No matter what happens with the IndieGoGo campaign Ill be sticking around and looking forward to giving the finished product a play.

Until then I gave the Demo a First look on my channel:

Keep up the great developer work & catch you on the Indiegogo updates.

The only issue Ive run into so far is there is a very slight freeze in the game when the screen has that dark blue flicker when you enter a new area. Otherwise everything runs great. - Props on an excellent game, looking forward to what you make next.

As a side note, once Im done uploading my playthrough series Im going to link a quick guide to patching the game files. Since it a appears a couple people have been having trouble.

-- Text Guide to Patching --

Each patch comes with a "Games" folder. DO NOT just copy this into the primary folder for the game. It does not contain all the required pieces.

Step 1) Open the "Games" Folder

Step 2) Copy the contents of the "Games" folder

Step 3) Open the primary folder for the "The Cursed Forest" -> Navigate to and open the "Games" folder

Step 4) Paste the patch files into this "Games" folder -> It should ask you to "overwrite\" existing folders -> Selected yes for all files in question.

Step 5) Rinse and repeat for the English patch.

Step 6) Enjoy the game.
