Sprawling industrial complexes are impressive.
The machinery, pipes, power lines, duct works...
With lots of nooks and crannies to hide enemies and goodies.
And with names like "nuclear plant", "Containment Area", "Slipgate Complex",
"the Installation", "Termination Central" and so on
you know there was some serious industry going on.
Another thing about the industrial complex in a fantasy setting -
it gives you a sense of something familiar.
No surprise that the quake adventure episodes all start in a military style base.
