Sitrep #2 features in-game footage of Xenonauts for the very first time! See the Geoscape in operation in an extract taken straight from the latest build of our code!

Welcome to Sitrep #2, featuring the first in-game footage of Xenonauts! We’re enormously grateful for the numerous people that have placed a pre-order with us based on faith alone, but a lot of people have mentioned that they want to see a bit more of the game in action before they put their money on the table. That’s fine by us – we’ll be releasing regular videos over the next few months, showing the various elements of the game in action. Hopefully it’ll convince a few more of you that we’re the real deal!

So, without further ado, the video is below (watch it in high-quality if possible):

If you want to download the full video (20mb file, compressed with XviD), you can do so here. This is higher quality than the Youtube video because it doesn’t have any extra compression on it.

The video shows the Geoscape in action. It’s simply unedited footage from our latest build, so it contains several work in progress elements; such as the formatting of the Geoscape alert dialogues and the building tiles. The final game will obviously be considerably more polished, however this should give you a good feel for how the Geoscape will work and look. As always, suggestions and comments are welcome either on this post or in our forums.

The second thing to mention in this post is that we’ve been lucky enough to make the Top 100 indie games on ModDB/IndieDB, despite not having done any promotion so far. This is a great opportunity for us to raise the profile of the project, and I really hope some of you guys will be impressed enough with what we've done so far to give us some of your votes!

you know I haven't seen any good remakes of XCOM so far, so prove me wrong guys... prove me wrong. Although actually UFO aftershock wasn't that bad, I kinda liked that one. But it wasn't polished enough to really stand the test

I like the interface, its clean and simple how an interface should be, I just really can't wait for you guys to give us a live video of the battlefield as I've seen alpha screen shots of it (you showed some on your website) and wasn't really impressed with the graphics on the ground but i'm sure they'll change. Anyway keep up the hard work guys its looking good so far :)
