Kyle Rogers, an ex-Spec-Ops soldier has been awoken from a very long cryostasis sleep by a young human woman, named Tori. In his sleep, the world has gone to hell and back. It is recovering from years of war and torment after a mysterious disease pushed the world into apocalypse. Kyle has amnesia but soon learns that he is the key for the survival of the human species, and that he is supposed to open a massive underground Cryostation which holds thousands of humans that can re-populate the world. But, it won’t be long before Kyle realizes there is more to this world than his mission and that the secrets of this world are more dangerous than the bacteria that caused “The Collapse” in the first place.
A nice theme track by Sam Speakman, perhaps a bit more stealth-action oriented. Got a twist of Splinter Cell Conviction. More to come soon!
I wish it had dynamics.
What are dynamics? Is it a musical technique I do not know?
The dynamics are a songs changes from loud to soft.
It helps create tension and makes it more "musical".
After listening, the song really does need to be a LOT softer at the parts without the guitar and orchestra and when all the other instruments come in make those louder.
The slight nuances make a huge difference.
Sorry for the double post, but I spent too long adding in an edit.
EDIT: After listening to the main theme you can tell a huge difference. Try listening to the piano and you'll notice the lower notes are a ton louder than the higher notes which are hardly there. It feels very emotional.
Don't take it as I don't like your music though. The melodies are great, the only thing these songs need are just volume changes.
Thanks for all that, I will let Mr. Speakman know.
Thanks a lot for your careful feedback, I will definitely consider your points when I come back to this session again in the future, although I purposely made all sections apart from the atmospheric break downs pretty loud, but maybe I should work on making the guitar section that bit louder.
Anyway I'm glad you like the composition itself, orchestral sample mixing is definitely not my strongest point and it's something that will improve as I work on this soundtrack over the coming months.
Thanks again for your comments Pogswarts, I look forward to hearing your feedback on my next uploads.
In addition to what pogswarts said, I'll say I like the main beat. However, the balance between the sounds is too even. It lacks a feeling of layering, and makes it feel all jumbled on top of itself.
An example would be -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5pUnK6EcQE (I'm not trying to shamelessly promote my channel or something, it just happens to be a good example thats easily accessible.) Notice how the individual sounds stand separately from one another as the song progresses, rather than drowning themselves out. It lacks a sense of equivalency, yet still maintains that... equilibrium.
My two cents. I'm not trying to be overly critical. I definitely like the entire composition as it stands right now. But theres easily room for it to achieve its real potential.
Thanks for the feedback dude, I've still got a lot to learn as this is my first project, so any advice is appreciated.
I understand what you're saying, I think I was probably to aware of the volume of each instrument, trying to make the left and right mixes even, which made it sound unnatural.
Love your track by the way, the mix sounds really nice and demonstrates your point well.
Look forward to hearing your feedback on my future work Acetyl.
I've dabbled in music composition in the past, though it wasn't I that made the track I linked.
Still I think you're definitely on the right track with the vibe and all, I'm happy to help.
