Twin Soul

Twin Soul is a coop-survival horror video game that takes place in an distant and desolate town somewhere in Eastern Europe. Here two players have to join together and face frightful creatures and solve twisted puzzles to survive. The game raises a variety of social problems, the expression of which can be found in the appearance of monsters, the environment and the characters themselves.

Just finished working on the visual component of Prototype-2 and ready to demonstrate some screenshots. Now we will proceed with the setup of gameplay part of it. You could assess the result on the Games Gathering conference on 9-10 December in Kiev.

For quite a long time we've shown only entirely static scenes with the backed lighting on them (the only exception was the teaser - it was made completely with dynamic lights). In the current case we're combining a static, dynamic and semi-dynamic lighting to acquire an optimal visual quality, game performance and realistic interactive items display.

Beside all this, we've learned how to adjust light probes to illuminate dynamic objects, found out some (new to us) cubemap properties, done lots of experiments with the different level geometry types, deployed multiple lighting scenarios, stepped on the good dozen of rakes and into a couple of technical limitations. Long story short - got acquainted with visual development pipeline quite well.

А в игре будет полноценный вид от первого лица? Чтобы ноги видно, отражаться в зеркалах и чтобы тень отбрасывал персонаж на всё и тени падали на персонажа. Это сильно придаст интерактивности и погружения игре, что важно для атмосферы. Хотя бы тени и зеркала было бы неплохо, в конце концов реалистичная графика это не самая главная часть для погружения и атмосферы, главное чтобы игрок мог чувствовать что его персонаж так или иначе существует только в связке с миром, постоянно, а не просто нажимает в кнопки чтобы в мире случались какие-то вещи при помощи магии из летающей невидимой камеры. И уж тем более когда в кооперативе второй персонаж визуально явно будет полноценно существовать в мире при этом. Даже в алхемилле были отражения (хотя и без теней, что не имело значения сильного ибо освещение было достаточно статичным). Было бы очень круто.
И уж пугаться своей тени в хоррорах - редкая, но очень очень приятная вещь.

All screenshots taken directly from game engine. We didnt used anything except Unreal Lightmass Technology. Also, there are no scanned models. Everything were made by hand in 3d modeling and texturing software.
With this graphics we achieved you will have stable ~60 fps when the demo will be available. We trying to make first closed (just for stream audience) demo in about a year.

Hi, i got one question. Why u dont get on Kickstarter? they can help your project a lot

1) First of all we are based in Ukraine and Russia. Citizens of these countries can not withdraw money from Kickstarter.
2) To reach the Kickstarter need a lot of promotional material. That's a lot of work, we are currently better to concentrate efforts on the core gameplay.
3) For successful companies on Kickstarter need a large investment of money in the media and advertising, and we have no money.
4) Kickstarter is not a donation, it micro-investment for which you need something else to give. Most earned money will be spent on it. Again, a lot of wasted time and resources.
5) People trust to Kickstarter projects fell after a series of bad games or not issued. We did a little work and can not gain the trust of people.

It happens that the projects make money on Kickstarter but such a little. Kickstarter - it is primarily advertising platform. After all, if successful Kickstarter project falls instantly in news bulletins around the world. So we will sooner or later will appear on Kickstarter, but rather late, now it will only hinder the work.

In the above countries, ex post facto dictatorship. Kikstarter it's only a small part of the restrictions.
Of course, our fellow citizens are use Kickstarter money, but do it all via detours. Simply - illegally.
