They Hunger: Lost Souls is a commercial game powered by Half-Life 2 Source. Based upon the highly popular They Hunger mod series for Half-Life 1, the upcoming title features a completely new horror-survival adventure.
In North-Eastern Europe during the early 1960's, strange anomalies culminate with dead corpses rising from their graves. As a tourist recovering from a tragic accident, you seek shelter in an ancient monastery overrun by bloodthirsty zombies, and become involved in an escalading cascade of calamities.
They Hunger: Lost Souls has now entered alpha stage. All level development is finished and refined. We are now focusing on final resources and content, which basically means integrating scripting, dialogues, additional models and animations.
Sorry for the scarce updates, but we've just been too busy working on the game. It's coming along very nicely and we believe your patience will be rewarded! Further details about the game and additional screenshots are available at Blackwidowgames.com.
Also, we still have open positions for more modelers, animators, and skinners to help speed up development of the remaining models. Previous experience on Source is required. If you are interested, please send samples of your previous works to Neil Manke at "neil@blackwidowgames.com".
It's a shame that this never come out...
Wish someone would re-make this mod in the spirit of the original Trilogy.
Too bad the leak is incomplete, especially shame with the 2008 version. I mean the cornfield and lair02 maps (and probably many other), the lack of any story elements (game feels bland with that generic static out of the radios and no recordings) etc., because it's really playable for the most part and it certainly seems like a worthy successor of TH franchise. Or at least it seemed.
I agree, the maps are well done. I think they captured the essence but its missing the small details/triggers.
Mine ended at the watchtower.
It would have been a great successor.
-thanks for this site
There's a rumour Neil Manke left the company and deleted all his files relating to it after contracting a life-threatening disease, and to this day refuses to talk about it.
Not true. 2 builds of the game exist and are in my possession.
I don't suppose you'd be willing to provide something tangible to support your claim?

You've made that up
Because of the date you wrote that I'm not sure how serious to take that. If someone did make it up, it wasn't me. I was just going from what I've read online, including an interview with former Black Widow developer Einar Saukas, and attempts at correspondence with Manke himself. I've since come up with a more realistic idea of what might have happened.
It's true that Neil Manke disappeared and that They Hunger Lost Souls was never mentioned ever again after 2008, but where was it said that he deleted the game? P.S, I was actually serious, despite the date of the comment, though I might have gone too extreme about it. I just didn't want another false rumor to be spread over fake evidence.
That's perfectly understandable.
