Even in its early days, Althas has been a land shaken by conflicts. In the early days, these conflicts pitted the Anointed Kingdoms of Men against the dark and demonic forces that threatened them. However, with the passage of time the world has changed. With the Anointed order eroding away and new powers rising, another war looms on the horizon, a war brought on by Man's own actions. Thenodar, a burgeoning new kingdom in the North, and Anorthile, one of the last of the three remaining Anointed Kingdoms, now prepare for a war that will shake all of Althas. Old demons and new enemies gather in the shadows of both lands as each sets their sights on the ruined wilderness known as the Feralands.

A Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from all of us at Epoch Games. I know it’s been a long time since you’ve heard from us, but we have definitely been working. Well, we feel this is the best time of year to show some of the fruits of our labor. We’re proud to present a small town, in the outskirts of Thenodar called Bordrima:

Bordrima sits just northeast of the young Kingdom of Thenodar. Built primarily on the lumber trade, Bordrima has stood independent of the various factions that have vied for control of the surrounding regions, governed by three Ealdan (or “Elders”).

However, as the Somstrynd Clans’ influence spreads to the east and Thenodar continues to grow in the south, Bordrima will soon be forced who to stand with in the coming years of change and conflict in the region.

With the Ealdan divided, tensions are growing. As pressure mounts from both sides, the events in this small town in the shadow of Voshellas will have farther reaching ramifications than any in the town realize.

Bordrima will be a major location in the story to be told in Thenodar and in the story of Althas. We hope you've enjoyed your first look at the art of Bordrima and our current work in engine.

And best of all: there’s more to come! Stay tuned, and maybe the New Years will be bringing another present as well!

Now that we're finally at the point of development where we're happy to show our progress in Unreal Engine, expect more updates from us in 2017 :)

Although I do like the landscape screenshots, I do believe there's something "missing" in the town screenshots, I mean from graphic/shader perspective. Also the sharpness of the image is quite intensive. But anyway, it's nice to have an update! I am still looking forward to a showcase of some of the game mechanisms.

The team will do the best they can to improve things further in the town, but with respect to performance. We really don't want to go overboard and promise visuals that'll break performance further down the line :P

We've got lots of work to do yet, so we'll see!

Thanks for sticking with us during development and keep an eye peeled for more soon ;) Merry Christmas!

I agree, there's something off about the materials/textures in the cities. It seems especially visible in the last image: Media.indiedb.com

It's likely a lighting snafu. We've been fiddling with the lighting for a while.

Hey :) It's the result of the AA and Supersampling. The screenshots were taken from x3 the standard 1920x1080 resolution then scaling it down to 1080p. This is what I was told.

I would personally suggest add some "fog", plus increase ambient occlusion and maybe add material displacement ;)
