The Demo! Look at the Demo!
For a short while we'll be releasing the latest updates as the demo on Steam. This will be until the game develops past a point we deem to be too complex to continuously update the demo.
Try the demo, then let us know what you think so far. We're open to suggestions and ideas.
Here's what we got now
We're developing a roadmap on where we want to go with the game, but right now we're concentrating on getting the core mechanics right.
Reaching playable demo status was actually a big job for us. A bunch of corners just had to be cut. Therefore we've since been focused on a big cleanup operation.
That means starting up the Refactor Tractor! A spring clean was needed both cosmetically and in the editor. Today we'll talk about the editor changes.
The "doors" in the demo are dangerous static walls rather than actual physical doors. But we do have some real doors to introduce soon. But they were not working. Standing on one could give you a bit of a surprise.
Oh dear. So what we needed to introduce a check to ensure that the door didn't close if someone was stood in the doorway. And here it is:

The code wasn't a complete mess of course, but Rich was keen on streamlining the process of building levels. Making connected game objects was one of his focuses.
So a couple of gadgets later and we now have this system for adding in inputs and outputs. Check this out:

Personally I still just like the watching it for the autonomous blinking the characters do :D
