Devlog #3 – What we have!

Hi everyone, and welcome back to another one of our devlogs! Today, we have just a small update to bring to you, but with a lot more in mind! We brought to you again some more pictures of what we made during this last week.

There has been some progress when it comes to art, and some alterations in terms of programming and some small news regarding game design!

Artwise…

This week our artist was able to finish the rest of the sketches with some pretty good detail, which are different from the ones from last week, since they are for another part of the level - Figure 1, Figure 2 -. This next week he will start working on the UI of our game, so we can try and test how it looks with our Unity level, whilst trying to get the rest of the environment done!

Regarding Programming…

When it comes to programming this week, she was done with the main mechanics and was starting to work on the whitebox of the level, however, we came up to a slight impairment, which we had to make adjustments to the puzzle mechanic, in order to make it more enjoyable and immersive for the game, although we still do not have the UI to show its looks, we had to alter it, which now she will have to adapt it. The camera will, as planned, be round, but it won’t work exactly how we were thinking in the beginning, still a drag and click, but with no sliders included. When it is done, we will come back to show you the result!

Game Design…

As for me, this week, I was able to start working on our academic report for the game, while updating slight things, such as modifying the explanations for the gameplay loop, although it is the same, I made the basic ideas for our spec-sheet, however, we are working on the art-side of it to show you how it will be, but for now I can show you some of the basic ideas you can expect from our game - Figure 3 -, not only that I was able to make the level design for our game to help the artist and programmer image what I had in mind, this is a fairly easy and quick idea, it will be bigger in game of course - Figure 4 -, also, this version is made in a A3 sheet, it was similar to my first version with post-its (which as made in case I needed to change things), but an updated version, it still doesn't have enough space to show, but it will give a good idea of what we wanted!
