The Story So Far

2052. Forty years after ‘the end of the world’, an event speculated to occur in 2012 at the end of the Mayan calendar. It was normal to be skeptical of this so called end of the world event, so who could have expected it to be occurring now?

For the last several years Earth has been tormented by an endless torrential downpour of rain. It all started with severe weather warnings world-wide with the ideation that it would all pass. Days turned to months as the global sea levels kept rising. As more and more of civilization was swallowed by the rising tides, the world’s leaders all started to develop plans to ensure their people’s survival in the event that everything we knew was one day underwater.

The different ideas and strategies of enabling survival caused tension between world leaders as many did not agree with other’s drastic plans. The UN fell apart and every nation started fending for themselves with no regards for their former allies. Some started stockpiling raw materials and military vehicles while others tried researching ways to make life underwater sustainable.

The months turned in to years and here we are today, a whole planet’s surface completely under water. Much of the world’s population was lost to the rising waters, leaving only a few nations on the road to survival of the human race. Huge watertight structures line the shallower parts of the sea, where daily life offers nothing but an endless effort to keep the structures maintained and families fed.

Despite being so close to extinction mankind has fallen victim to old habits that plagued life 40 years ago. Endless war, terrorism and fighting for dwindling natural resources as the power hungry try to establish their prominence.

You have grown up as part of a smaller community on the border of your home nation. You spent your younger years learning from your father how to maintain the structures, machinery and underwater vessels of your nation. Life was relatively simple until recently a crew of exploration and resource collection vessels suddenly fell off the radar and all contact stopped.

With your mechanical knowledge of the vessels you have been assigned captain of a new military prototype vessel. Before this day your nation’s military strength was minimal as very few threats found their way close enough to be of any harm.

Combining newly discovered technology your vessel, code-named Hades, will be able to produce new vessels and weapons from almost anything that can be brought back to the cruiser. Rock, sand, metal, it can all be torn apart at a molecular level and be reused in an almost infinite array of possibilities.

Your carrier will be assigned a full crew, each member coming from a different background. Your crew will be able to remotely control any vessel they are assigned to from their station inside the Hades. This allows them to fight any threats without the risk of loss of life.

Some crew members have prior experience handling other vessels, some have mechanical knowledge and others are known just for being quick learners. You will be in control assigning your crew to tasks you believe they are capable of doing, or you may encourage your crew to learn new skills. Everything is in your hands.

Your first assignment from the higher-ups is to investigate the last known location of the missing vessels.


What is Project Hades?

Project Hades is a vehicular-based real time strategy game aimed at giving the player an array of vehicle and weapon combinations to help them achieve victory in each mission.

The player will be in control of an automated assault cruised code-named Hades. The Hades is capable of producing countless vehicles and weapons through technology breakthroughs that allow anything and everything to be broken down and rebuilt at an atomic level. Using this technology, the player can either control vehicles manually or allow a form of artificial intelligence to take control.

Through these two control methods the player will be required to put thought and strategy in to their assaults during each mission. Do they rush straight for enemy unit production structures, or scout for the enemy's power production and disable it covertly? The player makes the choices.

Project Hades currently consists of a single member who covers the entire workload. As the game progresses extra personnel may be taken aboard.

Another day, another quick video:

This is a quick update showing some newly added object avoidance programmed in to the AI.

The avoidance is very basic and jittery at the moment, but with the basics in place it is a good proof of concept.

A new video has been uploaded!

This development update includes further additions to the AI aspects of Hades.

-AI controlled vessels will now strafe when firing at enemy units.
-There are now 3 methods of assigning commands: Move, Attack and Recycle. When Moving the crew member will not keep a look out for any enemy units or resources. When Attacking the crew member will attack any enemy unit that enters a certain range, and Recycle does a similar job but with a resource collection vehicle.

The next item on the list will be to add the ability to queue up multiple commands, such as:
-Move to Location A;
-Attack to Location B;

Project Hades has taken a turn with it's environment setup and story line. The game mechanics will remain the same in being reminiscent of games like Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising and Carrier Command: Gaea Mission but everything will take place on an alien planet that is completely underwater.

Definitely! The Magpie was very useful in HW and there will definitely be something similar implemented.
