KarBOOM 0.3 coming soon
I know it has been a long time since the last update, but with IGF around the corner, IOTY presumably coming up as we get to the end of the year, and most of the important changes to KarBOOM coming together, expect to be playing a huge new version of KarBOOM by mid October.
Here are some of the more recent changes you can expect in the next update.
New car skins
In order to accommodate more players in each game, KarBOOM now has new variations on each car colour.
Up to 48 players
The new car skins facilitate a new player cap: up to 48 players will be able to battle it out at a time. Check out all the new car skins in one arena:
Needless to say, KarBOOM will have bigger levels to accommodate the greater number of players.
Also remember that this coming update isn't the end for KarBOOM -- I'll continue to support it with bug-fixes, new mutators, new features, new obstacles, and so on. I'd love to hear your suggestions here or at the KarBOOM forums. KarBOOM forum accounts are automatically being upgraded to premium accounts -- required for online play in any version of KarBOOM -- for free until further notice, so join up now!
Other stuff
Full-screen and resolution options, dedicated server mode, improved graphics, improved online chat, mutator tweaks to make them useful in more game modes and player counts, and player-colour explosions:
Not forgetting new surface types (as demonstrated in KarBOOM's last news post, obstacles and bug-fixes, there's a lot to look forward to.
See it in action
Yes, the sound needs some work and the game needs some music. I'll see what I can do, but I'll prioritise getting a new version out sooner rather than later.

KarBOOM 0.2.4 is still available on KarBOOM's website if you want a small (and slightly buggy) taste of what's to come.
While you're here, some people have been very creative with an old version of KarBOOM (0.2.1, I think):
48 you say :? Sounds extreme :D
:D There'll be much bigger levels as well. Of course, there's nothing stopping a host from putting a 48 player cap on a really tiny level!
