21/8/2014 - Illyriad Games has announced great updates for it's free-for-all, epic MMORTS Illyriad, starting with improved city graphics and the option to change a city's look as much as a player wants! For most of Illyriad's life, all cities have looked the same on the world map. There are four basic city looks that match up to the four main races in the game -- orcs, elves, dwarves and humans -- but we have decided to add on another 30 city styles! Players can now spend Prestige (our virtual cash) and change how their city looks at any time. So far, the response so far has been fantastic. We've also included more information on the city drop-down menu.
Next, we have decided to host a Player Council, similar to many other councils that you might have found in different titles like EVE Online. Due to a bit of caution on our part, we are going to start this council only as a group of players to discuss the game's lore. We'll host the Astronomer, Ambassador, Biographer, Historian and Geographer. Each role will have a specialty and the group will meet in a private forum to discuss specific lore-based topics.
What is the official date of the world? Which factions are the oldest? Are there any holes or inconsistencies in the lore? The Council will answer these questions. If all goes well, we might open the Council up to other roles like combat or trade. For now we want to keep the topic light and fun and one that does not effect gameplay.
Last, we have hosted another Strategy Stream, a monthly livestream hosted by GM Rikoo and players who volunteer to come on. This time around, we discuss the basics of combat with players Artefore and Ryklaw. You can view the recorded livestream on our Twitch page or on our YouTube page.
