I know jackshit about modding and creating this kind of content with these types of programs, but the apparent complexity to a content illiterate like me is astonishing.

All I know is this all looks gorgeous and I'm glad someone knows what they're doing lol. Keep up the fantastic work, guys. It will pay off.

If properties can be changed in the engine, than I hope someday this can be used in game to customize ships; it would be sooooo awesome to be able to customize ship's appearance

This is one of the reasons that we wanted to work with Substances initially. Their customization can lead to allowing modelers and players being able to make their ships 'their own' in ways that are not usually available in games. It also allows us to 'wear down' the ships in terms of paint, dirt, sea growth, etc. Your ship shouldn't look the same after 10 months at sea as it did coming out of the shipyard, and we want to accurately represent that.

fashinating how you can apply that substance texture "that easily",and also differentiate those different materials. it looks pretty good from the get go too! should I be waiting for a "wear overview" next :P?
