Teeeth! Well done - and finally I understand how you solved the problem of sharks not being able to look straight ahead. They look through the mouth! Makes sense for gameplay.
I see how this makes sense for gameplay but would it be possible to perhaps "dim out" the sharks vision instead? I'm thinking similiar to the eagle vision from Assassins creed. An injured diver would shine like a beacon to all sharks while a healthy diver might hide from a shark more effectively. It would sure make for some interesting gameplay as sharks would be more dependent on shapes and movement rather than vision. Looking great though and eagerly awaits the release.
like how, if I recall correctly, civilians in AC blend into the scenery. Where as enemies can be seen in a bright red from afar.
Exactly! Except enemies won't glow until they get hurt. This would produce a playstyle very similiar to real sharks IMO. Sharks have to scan vast areas and be very aware of their suroundings to find the prey. It would also allow the developers to accurately set the speed for sharks.
We have something just like already implemented for the Sharks, and your quite right, it does make you (the player of the shark) feel like a real predator.
Cool idea but, I'm not to fond of sacrificing all the amazing graphics on the screen to look through its mouth. I hope there are alternative views too.
Kinda like flying a plane game where you can select different views to give you full view of the environment or in-cockpit views where you can see the interior.
im not a big fan of the mouth view... can you change views??
During attacks on divers the camera switches to a 3P chase cam. We will also probably provide an option in the settings menu to disable the teeth if you wish.
We're pretty confident you will change your tune when you actually get to play the game, as this sort of stuff tends to work by feel, not look.

Hmm. Remote control shark where the camera is lodged somewhere in it's throat...
I'm willing to give it some play before I form my opinion on this game-play element. It just looks wonderfully vicious and I can imagine in working quite well, but I want to experience the feel first.
