In 1998, a major car company approached a leading US research institution with a fascinating challenge: develop a head-mounted display like no other in the market, one providing such true feeling of space and mass (through ultra-wide field of view and high resolution) that car designers will be willing to forgo the creation of physical prototypes in favor of virtual “direct from computer” models.
Through hard-work and ingenuity, such technology was developed and patented. It became core to the Sensics product lines. Excited with the potential of bringing this invention to market, key researchers in this project decided to found Sensics in 2003.
Sensics signed an exclusive world-wide license to commercialize the invention and started working. Shortly thereafter, NASA granted Sensics a phase I and later phase II SBIR to create an augmented-reality model featuring live video feeds from the Robonaut, and the work leading to today’s piSight was started.
The team at Sensics is driven by a simple mission: to develop the world’s most immersive head-mounted display. With the display now developed, our goal is to put this breakthrough technology to work in numerous industrial applications, delighting customers in the process.
